Good mentions . Maddux was devastating I remember my dad being extremely upset about it . It was obvious he was the best pitcher in baseball and they didn't want him wtf .

in retrospect, of course not. at the time, absolutely. maddux was coming off his first great season at age 26. age 22-25 he was good to very good. who would have guessed he would have NINE more elite seasons ahead of him?

When the White Sox were going to finally make the playoffs and had a chance to maybe win it all and they canceled the playoffs / world series due to the strike in 94. Baseball lost me as a fan and never got me back at this point.

You beat me to it. I wasn't old though to truly remember it, but I heard it was soul wrenching, understandably so. I've heard a number of fans saying they stopped watching baseball after that.
