Just traded a 6th for Jonah Jackson. Not too surprising

- Sign Zeitler to short term deal ($1/$7).
- Sign Mack (1/$12) and Javon Hargrave (1/$8) to short term deals.

- Draft BPA in 1st. In order I'd say Campbell/Membou, then Graham/Williams/Pearce with an outlier for Jeanty if they really think he's a stud and have stoked the OL/DL in FA.
- 2d/3d I want to complete the "stack" such that you end up with 2 OL and at least one DL in the top 3 rounds. Guys like Zabel, Ersery, Jackson, Zavinaiiea for OL and on the DL, Harmon, Ezeiraku, Umanmielen, Sanders, Tyliek Williams. If an RB like Hampton/Johnson slides a bit and you have the lines, I could jump on him.

Remaining Fa $ and draft probably need to add a TE, LB, S.

Didn’t realize Hargrave was a free agent. At that price, I think he’d be an excellent pick up. But I think I’d prefer to wait and see if we can land Mason Graham in the draft. I would assume there would be an adequate FA still available after the draft

Wow. I didn’t expect them to take on the whole contract. Not sure how much i like the deal with that info. He had a pretty significant injury last year but before that he was a top tier OG. If the injury isn’t any concern, then 17m will be a bargain for someone of his talent. But I still don’t like the idea of taking on the whole contract.

I would assume this takes fries (or any other high priced guard) off the table.

My guess is that we sign a center and if we don’t sign Zeitler, we draft booker in round one.

Looking at the pic I'd assume he could play some center as well? Seems like a Polesish move for sure.

Mostly from memory so I may be getting some details wrong, but from my understanding, the rams played him at center in 2024 but he struggled. He had a shoulder injury in camp and then fractured the same shoulder in like week 3 or 4. Came back from injured reserve and got benched after a couple of days, presumably for not playing well.

I wouldn’t be in favor of him play center only because of how good of a guard he is.

But I would assume this trade doesn’t happen if Johnson doesn’t cosign it and he coached Jackson for his first 4/5 years in the league. So if Johnson thinks he can come in and play well, there’s no reason for anyone else to disagree

If the goal is to have Jackson play center, then I think Zeitler at RG is a bigger no brainer than he was before. And then we probably target a rookie in the draft and have him compete with bates. Although it would be nice to sign Stanley on top of all that, I think we stick with jones for one more year. If that’s the plan for our starters, we have more than 50m to basically do whatever we want.

And if that’s the case I would not be surprised if we consider serious candidates for trading for Hendrickson or garret

In a basketball terms it's a salary dump by Rams. By sound of deal seems they wanted to get rid of full salary for him. We gave up basically nothing to aquire actual talent. Now depends how you view this trade from your point. Depends if you thinking Bears could sign better player in FA for less money or trade for better player without giving up too much.

And you pretty much have to believe B Johnson gave this acquisition a thumbs up, when compared to other possible O-lineman. It's a one year deal with no future commitment.

Well good, that's one less thing to have to address later. Hopefully he's fully recovered from the injury.

I like the trade. We've traded higher draft picks for guys with worse resume's than him. This gives us only 2 starting spots on the O Line to fill now with the draft and free agency. We also get to go into free agency with less of a sense of urgency which should help us with negotiations. I'm still holding out hope that we can sign Tevin Jenkins as a "6th Man" for the O Line to back up the starters. I think someone is going to be willing to pay him to start though.

This guy might actually be the Bears center. Bates 2.0. Maybe richer man’s version.

me too. I am fine if we use all of our picks and cap space on OL as long as we are protecting CW and can run. The rest is all building on that critical foundation. Defense can wait, a stud RB can wait. No OL, we flush CW after next season, and are starting all over anyway.

I think Poles might have made this trade because the options in FA don't look so great. Not that many guys available, and the price tag will be high.

He was a Pro Bowler with Ben Johnson in Det. So it’s possible Ben made the call for familiarity and he’s good in the run game.

I don't know. All his best seasons were at guard and he struggled at center. Seems like you probably want him to be a guard, but maybe the struggles were all health-related and he could play center if need be.
