Everyone here hates Kuminga, but whenever I see him play I see future star. This guy is going to average 25 a game if he is ever unleashed.

I don't hate Kuminga, I'm not a huge fan that he's about to get a huge pay day without really showing too much. If the Bulls get him, they'll likely have him and Giddey on 30m per year deals and that's going to probably mean that Coby is gone as I doubt they'll pay 3 players the same big money. (I'm OK with trading Coby, btw).

I actually like Kuminga and was lobbying trading for him last season and (maybe?) the season before.

Kuminga needs to work hard on his shooting (if only the Bulls had a shooting coach that was good with young players and had proven record of improving their shots...) and become at least adequate on defence. He has tremendous talent and athleticism, he just needs to work on the basic basketball skills and he can be a beast, IMO.

The only way I consider trading for Kuminga is if it's for PW. I'd hate for the Bulls to get Kuminga and then end up with two duds (not saying PW and Kuminga will be bad, but it's a possibility).

Also, if he's so good then why does GS want to trade him?

What do you see from Kuminga that says 25ppg star?

Per 36 he already averages 22 a game and in the 40 career games he's played 30 or more minutes he's averaged around 21 a game. This is with him not even being featured as the main option. He's fairly elite athletically and over his career has shot very well from the field. He's a bad three point shooter but he offsets that a bit by getting to the line. He's basically drawing fouls at a DeRozan level rate.

Kerr benched him in the playoffs for hunting shots and looking off Curry. He’s not an IQ player.

He is a freak athlete that would be way better than Pat in our pace offense. He’s the type of guy that swing a game if he’s engaged. His motor is light years beyond Pat’s.

I don't think they want to trade him, but he wants more than they're willing to pay (possibly) plus they'll already be paying Curry, Butler & Draymond nearly 130m combined next season and then they've got Kuminga who'll likely be between 25m-30m.

I agree that having both PWill and Kuminga may not be ideal especially with both being 'meh' rebounders and being paid a good chuck of change.

I'm not really fussed one way or the other when it comes Kuminga, but I do think he may break out with a change of scenery.

Many here weren't too interested in getting Giddey either, but he changed some minds.

Kuminga doesn’t fit Dubs system. Dude was born to play fast in the open court. Hes a great fit for us if he would replace Pat.

Pat is a much better fit for the Dubs. Play off of Jimmy and Steph as a spacer and defender.

If AK is looking for the "Next Giddey" then there's a possibility that it comes back to bite him. There's a reason why someone like Kuminga is available and if he was a better player then GS would just keep him.

I agree with you that sometimes players need a change of scenery, but I bet in most cases they are who they are. When I've watched Kuminga he'd often cut to the basket and he's so athletic that it sometimes worked, but I didn't see him do much beyond that.

I just think that with Kuminga and PW the Bulls have a chance to put themselves in a bad situation if it doesn't work out.

I said this on the trade thread, but the only way I would consider Kuminga is if we traded Coby. They'd be a worse version of the ill fated Lavine/Derozan pairing. But if we could get say Lively for Coby, the idea of:
Ball(Ayo)/Giddey/Kuminga/Matas/Lively seems much better. The problem with Kuminga is that you almost need a 3pt shooting big to make up for his lack of outside shooting.

I'm still rooting for us to keep Jones for around $10M/yr, but I think we'll miss out on him because there are too many teams who need PG solutions (now add IN to the list) and we'll want to keep our roster flexibility for trades.

I hope they talk to Tre Jones from now and try to sign him before he hits FA and before he starts getting offers from other teams but doubt it.

On Giddey as RFA the smarter move would be to wait it out a bit and see if he has any other interest from others but I can see the Bulls agreeing to a deal from now as long as Giddey doesn’t ask a crazy amount over 30 a year.

Even though the Bulls have (for once) an abundance of big men, I'd be interested in giving Day'Ron Sharpe a look.

If they can unload or swap Vuc and Collins whilst picking up Sharpe I think that would be good.

Kerr benched Kuminga to me isn't really a reason to abandon interest in Kuminga

1. We don't play the same system

2. We wouldn't be putting him in a system with a clear pecking order like exists in Golden State


Golden State won 2 of the 3 games Kuminga played against Houston.

He played every game against Minnesota, that wasn't a 5-game series because of something Kuminga did or did not do

Kuminga was likely the best player for the Warriors overall in the Minnesota series.

Kuminga's 2021 scouting report from the Ringer (https://nbadraft.theringer.com/2021/) is summarized as:

Tantalizing athlete who has raw skills that need years of seasoning, but has every tool a patient team would look for.

Sure would be nice to be the team willing to show that patience and capitalize on a player scouts routineley said would require work to reach his potential.

Well, im certainly glad theres no chatter at all about what was mentioned on ESPN radio earlier. They were talking about rumors of the Bulls in talks to trade #12 for....... RJ Barrett. gross

My immediate thought was, "Boy, we really are the Isiah Thomas Knicks". Thankfully i see nothing anywhere else about that.

If we can get Kuminga for Vuc then i draft Coward or KJ with #12. Then try to find a team willing to take on Pwil for another first rounder. I don’t see Kuminga being a part of the long-term future but he can be pump and dumped later for something of value.

Fine with a Kuminga deal as long as it's just Vuc and filler going out, no picks or meaningful long term players. Not sure GSW would do that but they've been reportedly interested in Vuc before.

Giddey Kuminga and Matas could be the basis of a strong offense, and if you put Lonzo in the starting lineup and Smith/Collins at the 5 defense would be... manageable. Let's not forget Billy coached a top 5 defensive team with Zach DeMar and Vuc playing 33 minutes a game each.
