Tre with a avg 3 ball on percentage and volume is a starter. His D and PG play is that good.
Here’s to hoping he stays healthy.
I think we would have locked up Herro in the play in too. Herro would not have taken over. He would have scored but not dominated. Tre is a great cover.

Might have just been the way Leaveland was defending Giddey but having a second creator made a massive difference compared to the stagnancy of Heurter and Okoro. I think Coby will replicate some of that effect when he returns but since Jones is a plus defender the three of them can also share the floor.
totally agree.
They're our two best playmakers, Tre is about 8 assists per 36 career, 8 apg would put him in the top 10 of the NBA. But we really need him for when Giddey goes to the bench, Coby is not great as a floor general and we need him to score anyway.
I really like how similar Tre is to McConnell with the size, pesky defense, and high assists except 10 years younger. Also not sure if he's as clutch as McConnell, I guess we'll find out.
But he definitely fits AK's Indiana-copycat plan.
I agree we need him when Giddey is sitting, but that is only going to be about 16 minutes, so there's another 10 or so that they could be on the floor together.

I think Tre will be our highest mins player after Giddey and Coby. Billy will keep Buz earning more mins and keeping him from burning out.

He just signed 24 / 3 years and since he's just 25 he is is the better multi year contract invest than his 29 year old brother Tyus, who signed one year 7 mio with the Magic this summer.
But:
who would you like to have on your team, let's say for a 1 year championship run?

Jones will play a lot and nothing wrong with that, he is solid PG.
