No college coaches.
No retreads.
Must have NBA player experience.
Currently an assistant or coach somewhere in the NBA system.
As close to Nate McMillan as we can get.
That translates to (in no particular order):
Terry Porter
Michael Cooper
Mario Ellie (totally enthusiastic player and always seemed like a potentially great coach)
Where is Craig Hodges coching?
Anyone else out there?
Questions:
What's Budelholzer's background?
What about Kenny the Jet?
No retreads.

Hodges is currently an assistant with the Lakers. I listed him because
1. Two rings with the Bulls
2. He's a guy who wasn't a superstar but was an effective player, also could probably connect with Gordon.
3. Always seemed to have a great attitude. I don't recall ever seeing him down.

Scratch Hodges from my list. Was just reading up on him and learned that he had filed a $40 million lawsuit against the NBA for discrimination and that he has ties to Louis Farrakhan. Probably not someone Stern would like to see coaching in his league.
The man who smiles when things go wrong has thought of someone to blame it on.

Jeff Van Gundy
Larry Brown
Rick Carslie
I know people don't like Brown but if he was willing to sign a two year deal( i wouldn't give him a contract for any longer) I think he can help the Bulls.
I just think guys like Hinrich, Gordon, their games could improve under Brown.
What I like about Brown is not allowing the team to take many threes plus he also teaches you to take the good shot and teaches a very controled game. He knows how to limit the other teams attempts.
I also would loved Van Gundy. I think he knows how to win and is a little more player friendly and same thing likes a controled offense

it sounds crazy, even to me but just imagine the fans reaction if this happened. i can't think of anyone else that would spark as much interest. i hated this guy as a player but i love the idea of him coaching the Bulls.

What about John Thompson III at Georgetown? Any way we could lure him away to the big show?
4 years heading the Princeton program, and now three years at Georgetown. Would he ever leave Georgetown?

Okay I'm kind of warming up to a college coach. To my surprise.
Our young core is still very young. I think for the next two years (give or take) it's very important to develop the young four, and I think a college coach, just on average, in my opinion, is more likely to do that.
That's what we need next, and if the coach grows into it, and has success, like Skiles, he should be able to stay until it's broken.
Not to be negative on any choices, but, I think a very tiny percentage of candidates actually have what the Bulls, in my view, need for the next year or so.
If they were ready to win, now, and had a two-three year window, I would love the Brown/Carlisle/VanGundy choices but I think for this team's roster and needs, they would be terribly expensive mistakes.
