Is Rose stupid? Possibly. In fact, hearing him talk, combined with these reports, sugggests that "possibly" might not do justice to the likelihood.

Is Rose basketball stupid? Doesn't appear to be. All kinds of smart in this world. All kinds of dumb too. All I care about is that the smart is in the right place for what I'm looking to get out of someone. And from Rose, I'm looking to get basketball, not book reports.

+1, Rose has always looked .. yeah, strange off the court, he just doesn't seem to get some stuff, fortunately it's a different story with basketball though.

The next time you guys rip on Tyrus for being "dumb as rocks," I'm going to direct you to this thread. This kid has got to have some serious intelligence issues or something. Were his grades that bad that he couldn't pass freaking high school? Not being able to clear the SAT is bad enough, but high school??? Ugh.

Well, at least now we know why he can't put together a coherent sentence without saying "Um, um, um" every two seconds.

Anorexorcism, Thomas gets ripped for being "basketball stupid". This is a board about basketball.

Tell ya what: next time we discuss the relative reading comprehension skills of Bulls players, I'll have your back if we get into comparing Tyrus and Rose.

Looks like Tyrus and Rose have something to learn from each other.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

I get a feeling these missteps were not Derrick's own idea. Maybe the bigger danger with him is not his IQ but taking the wrong advice.

It really shouldn't be news that Derrick Rose is dumb. Bollocks to humble; he's just dumb. Just is.

I'm fine with that, because you can be thick as pig sheet and still be a sporting genius. Gascoigne, Jimmy White, etc. Entirely doable. I just wish that scandal didn't have to come from it.

Personally, I propose blowing everything way out of proportion by taking your somewhat benign statement and exploding it into a full-fledged excoriation of his character and leadership abilities.

This is the Bulls board, after all.

Are they going to uncover some malfeasance at the middle and elementary schools level, too?

Will Derrick Rose have to redo grades 1-12 like Billy Madison?

Underrated movie with the underrated Mrs. Pete Sampras in it.

Let's not give Rose a free pass and say, "maybe he didn't know what was going on." He knew he didn't take the SAT test. To say he he didn't know about grade changing is a laugh.

Let's see if John Calapari skates through this scott-free.

Derrick needs to face this head on, admit to poor decision making and simply not taking high school seriously (And maybe Reggie needs to fall on his sword as well here for baby brother). Speak of maturing now as a young adult and regretting the choices he made as a teenager and set about proving your character from this day on. You'll be surprised at how forgiving people can be of a genuine apology. Nothing our American media loves more than a redemption story. This story isn't going away by ignoring it though.

you know one could make the argument that rose did the smart thing by cheating on the SAT and having grades doctored. If I was dumb as a rock, but knew I had out of this world basketball skills, I think I'd be doing myself an injustice to waste precious practice time with a tutor. He did what he had to do to ultimately get himself a job. It's an ethical issue, but not a cut and dry one. Depending on who you talk to, legality does not always imply morality. Just because what he did was against the law or school system, doesn't mean it wasn't right.

Also just wondering, is it true that a huge factor in Kevin Garnett going straight to the pro's was his struggles with standardized testing?
