He wasn't in game one. Flung himself at the bugger.

Re: OT: London 2012 Olympic Basketball Thread
Deng is a hard player to figure. Not the most coordinated guy, so its hard to tell when he's struggling from his skill ceiling or from physical limitation.
But my idea of Deng at 100% is of a very solid all around offensive player. Not just a shooter, but a guy that is very capable slashing, working off the ball, battling underneath for putbacks when he gets O rebounds, and such. Actually a kind of... if not phsyical player per se, at least one that uses his height and length to his advantage.
He doesn't look like that right now. He looks more like the limited Deng we saw to end the year. And that makes sense, since he admits the wrist still bothers him, but he's simply trying to ignore it or learn to play through it.
I think he needs the surgery.

Also love how Amaechi keeps chiding Deng indirectly for going 1v1 and not getting others involved, but when he does, 75% of the time they bungle it up. Though today was probably their best in that regard.

Amaechi is a condescending tool. Rarely has anything positive to say about anyone or anything.

Somebody on Team USA just made a really terrible sloppy turnover pass.

Chris Paul just did the rolling the ball on the ground to keep the clock from starting thing. That's allowed in Olympic ball? The NBA and FIBA both really need to outlaw that. I feel like it's a cheap trick that goes against the spirit of the game.

Well If anyone were to violate the spirit of the game, I'm sure it'd be Chris Paul.

how is it a cheap trick? if you dont want someone to roll the ball all you have to do is bring one defender up, even if all he does is fake token pressure.

There are other things that bother me more than that. Jumping into a defender after a pump fake being my biggest pet peeve.

Agree. Don't like it? Apply some pressure on the ball, then back off if you want to.

The NBA timeout rule pisses me off. You're about to fall out of bounds or get tied up and turn the ball over, oh wait, I'll call a timeout in midair or while I'm to lose the ball..
Stupid. It's a bail out. Should be dead ball timeouts only.

USA are so jumpshot happy. It's absurd. They are playing Tunisia the most awful team, yet they just camp outside and let it fly.
Crazy. I get that it's hard to get up for playing a team like Tunisia, but come on, just force it to the basket.

I agree with this, to an extent. What about the guy that dives for a loose ball, gets possession of it while he's on the ground(but clearly inbounds), and calls a timeout while he's under the two guys from the other team that also dove on the ground to try to get the ball. Should he get the time out?

No timeouts unless the ball is dead IMO. So in that case, wait till the ball is tied up then make em jump for it.

Team USA opening it up now.
Kobe is barely playing. I've been watching since late in the 1st quarter and it seems like he's played maybe two or three minutes.

Westrook and Iguadala are just so disruptive on the defensive end.
