remember... Melo'sTeam has to outsmart
This guy...

Not Easy.
In no way am I saying Phil Is a World Champion level gm(yet)
But make no mistake about it.... he is one of the brightest minds in NBA history.
Phil could very well be playing Hardball with Melo's Team...
If the lakers are being used as leverage, than Melo's team has to sell it. And sell it hard.
We don't know the story.
Nobody is leaking anything. What I do pretty much know... Melo is not going to a Lebronless Laker Team in a 10-12 deep stacked West, with a 35 Year old Kobe.
What I don't get about he leverage angle is the Bulls according to Ralph gave him two options. One with Gibson for less money or without Gibson which would get him the max. The Knicks don't even have to take Boozer in the deal he can go someplace else and New York gets different kinds of assets. Phils isn't going to let Carmelo walk for nothing so what bluff of his is their to call?
Melo cant go to the Bulls, with the salary he wants, without Phil Jackson's cooperation. If the bulls are Melos ONLY choice, than Phil has to play the game.
If Phil knows that Melo wants Chicago or nothing, than THAT is where Phil can play hardball.
The benefits for NY:
1. Squeeze every asset possible out of the bulls
or
2. Hang on to your franchise player.
If Melos team can convince Phil that the Lakers are a possibility, then Phil cant be asking for the world in a S&T
Phil could be demanding Taj back for all we know. Trade talks could be between Garpax/Melosteam/Phil for all we know.
Leon Rose/Melos People can change the landscape by "slipping" leaks to SAS or other Mainstream media.
It appears Melos team is feeding the LA media and Phil/Dolan is feeding NY media.
I could be wrong of course, but something is suspiciously quiet on the Bulls front.
a few others mentioned 2010 Miami. I can see that.
