Tyrese Haliburton and Nico Mannion really lighting it up early. Hopefully they keep it up and PG ends up being the strength of the draft.

Haliburton has some crazy length, good feel for the game, decent defensive potential. His lack of bounce on his shot is a little worrying, but he has the length to make up for it a bit.

it's hard not to be impressed with players like Anthony, Edwards or Wiseman (even not having watched nothing from them) ,it seems any of these players could help the Bulls a lot.Seems that next draft won't be so weak as perceived before.

I liked what I saw from Jordan Nwora , playing for a great defensive unit like Louisville he did well on both ends,can be a good option for us as we're still in need for a wing who can shoot (something
Hutch can't be) and I don't know if Porter will stay ( I hope not).

I find that opinion odd because as far as I can remember, 2019 wasn't supposed to be a good draft class...so why does Hollinger find it so disappointing?

This is a draft class that was largely expected to be headlined by RJ, Cam, Little and Doumbaya and maybe even Romeo Langford, so the fact that Zion blew up only improved it tremendously. Ja was also not even predicted to be in either round, so he also improved the draft quality unexpectedly.

From my pov, it came out much better than I thought it would in 2018.

I just read the article today (having just taken the 66% off deal for Athletic's Cyber Monday deal, hell yeah). He obviously uses mostly statistics to point out how bad the collective lottery picks have been. Predictably, advanced stats are generally unkind to rookies.

In his words, 10 of the first 12 guys in the 2018 draft are currently starters in the NBA, with only Knox at NYK as a 'bust'. On the other hand, hardly any of the 2019 guys are playing above replacement level ball. Look at the BPM and VORPcolumn over at Basketball Reference.

He isn't really saying everyone's a bust. It's Hollinger and stats are his bread and butter. He's just pointing out how nearly everyone in the 2019 rookie class have been statistically problematic. He likes the game of several of the guys and seems to think several will eventually find their way to contribute measurably to rosters.

I generally dislike advanced stats in basketball, as I think there are just too many moving parts on court at once to individually assign moves (say, slipping between two defenders when most guys would pull up their dribble, it's literally unmeasurable). A more traditional analyst would probably be higher on the class than his spreadsheets. No worries, it was still a fun article to dig into.

I like Nico a lot. He passes like Jason Kidd. Makes everyone better. He’s a winner too.

Halliburton reminds me a lot of Caris Levert and Jarret Culver.

ATP I want the Bulls to trade out of the draft because I do not really like anybody in this draft. Lots a solid NBA pros but no true game changer.

Trade out for future 1st Rd Picks. This is not always easy to do here.

I would trade our draft pick for future first rounders bc GarPax is straight out garbage at drafting in the past couple of years.

They never even once considered or took a look at the league MVP Euro Sensational Future Steve Nash. Instead they got really got for 7 footer stiffs like Ayton, Bagley, and WCJ. They’re now garbage in all facets of management and are pure leeches.

The first draft after the one-and-done rule goes away will be artificially strong. From what we can tell at this point, that'll be the 2022 draft.

Could be good business to trade our pick for future draft picks provided that we land a good 2022 1st rounder.

That kid Vernon Carey has surprised me and has looked better than what Wendell Carter was in my opinion. They also have a common opponent in Udoka Azubuike who Carter struggled against with his size.

It looks like a weak year to me, but Haliburton checks a lot of boxes.
