Is this a new report after last night?

Nope. But it's my prediction and assumption we could do something like this by All-Star break. It makes sense. You wanna keep giving minutes to guys who play well, give minutes to guy returning from injury and wanna give guy who playing injured time to get surgery and heal.

Coby brings scoring and Zach mostly did that. He is not capable replacing Zach fully, but somewhat slide in his role to give you 20+ here and there.

you're not going to perform surgery on an injury that will heal over time by itself. Doctors will almost always recommend the least risky course of action and with surgery there is always some additional risk -- especially from infection. There isn't a single doctor, well, maybe like 1/5 that would evaluate Zach's range of motion, strength and overall function in his left thumb right now and recommend surgery. It's clearly something he can play with effectively and sure he could get it yanked out of position badly enough to worsen it but that's true of every joint on the body for an NBA player on any given night.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

it's not going to heal itself. he is gonna need to have surgery at some point and miss time. you want it to happen before playoffs. you dont wanna get to playoffs, somebody smacks zach hand and cant play much or shoots badly. its injury with which he can play with it and experience discomfort because ligament is torn off. it's not gonna get worse if he plays because it's already torn off. it's matter can he handle it 82+playoffs and does it affect him.

He either torched them in practice.....or was getting abused. (Hopefully he didn't get hurt or something).

Or you know...they just wanted to get him an extra practice session.

Got a feeling Coby is playing tonight. It's not like he's a player we're trying to re-insert to get 30 minutes off the bat from game 1. If he's good and healthy I'm sure he can handle 10 minutes tonight and build from there.

I would be excited to see that, but I don't get the sense that he's even been part of a full practice yet...am I wrong?

Not sure why they used a photo of him getting caught on a screen, but there you go:

Yea he needs at least a week of full practice and probably a couple G League games as well. I'd imagine he's targeting a return sometime on that trip, maybe the Portland game which is a week from today.

White said he’s “fully back” from the torn left labrum that necessitated surgery in June. He participated in a simulated, four-quarter game consisting of six-minute quarters to get his legs acclimated for the NBA grind. He’s not worried about contact, and said he’ll be able to get through screens and drive without fretting about re-injuring himself.

“I don’t really fear anything,” he said. “When I’m out there, I’m just playing, so it hasn’t been any issue for me.”

So when will White return to the Bulls rotation?

“Soon, real soon,” he said.

How about the West Coast trip, which starts Friday in San Francisco and includes four more games in Los Angeles, Portland, Ore., and Denver?

“Maybe,” he said. “It’s a possibility.”

I don't think you're wrong I just don't think there's any practices coming up. The Bulls clearly didn't practice yesterday (Tuesday) because if they did there'd have been no reason for Coby to practice with the G-league team.

Thursday will be a travel day. Game Friday. Probably traveling again Saturday. Games on Sunday and Monday.

Bulls don't have two consecutive days off until Nov 30-Dec 1.

Getting game time may be one of the few avenues available to Coby for getting some run in (outside of a brief G-league stint).

I'd imagine the docs want to see how he feels after a real game, G League level or otherwise. He'll probably have some stiffness and soreness that isn't easily reproduced in a practice or weight room setting.

One under rated part of getting Coby back is it means we can afford to rest DeRozan a little more. He's playing a ton of minutes for an older guy, because we need his offense with the second unit. But we should keep him fresh for the playoffs and Coby's offense allows the second unit to be a little more competitive without DDR.

So refreshing to have this many solid/good players that you simply can't choose who to sit because everyone is worth some playing time. They can't decide who to sit so they're just gonna extend the rotation by 1!

In years past, a guy like Alize would've been our 6th man with plenty of discussions of whether he should be starting.

True,
It is a good problem to haveve....but the underlying issue is that there might be 10 guys in the rotation, and none of them are really PF's.

If Pat was healthy, who would sit? Pat?

It's great to be the team that has a solid rook...

In past seasons we have watched guys like Quickley ball for a solid Knicks team while depending on Denzel Washington or the like for us.

Its refreshing to have such a good rook in Ayo.
