Along that line, I thought BD used the opener the right way. Tried out some lineups, but for the most part the guys that will open the year opened the year and got some run out. Preseason isn't the time to really **** with the starters imo, just let them get out there stretch the legs and then if the regular season (in a tank year especially) calls for change, then make the change. Preseason is just preseason.

I agree and disagree at the same time. Maybe Pat doesn't feel like he has anything to prove, but he hasn't proven anything to us, or, quite frankly, to the league. He hasn't even really earned his starting spot, and Matas and even Phillips could push him for it. So show us that you care, Pat.

Since Pat had a foot injury that was slow to recover there's a good chance he wasn't able to do a lot of basketball-related activity for a long time and may have only recently been able to start practicing fully.

I get the impression he's finishing the last part of his rehab.

I was watching the game with a very strong sense of deja vu.

On the bright side Matas continues to look like a prime rib prospect. Fantastic debut game. I even like it when he went half hearted against a freak of nature like Mobley and got obliterated. Great lesson. Playing matters to development. Do not slow roll this kid. He’s special.

Matas has a sense of space and that space relative to his own body pat can only dream about. pat's issues are his own thing, but with matas you can see that in a environment of guys with similar skill sets his body control and ability to impact that game based just on that stands out.

As expected first pre-season game after a pretty fundamental shakeup, Bulls is still figuring out its identity.

I like that Giddey seems comfortable around his new teammate, he's not afraid of stepping on his new teammates shoes.

Matas looks like he lives for this, he didn't look lost, really enjoying his minutes.

Zach is still shaking off his rust. But he looks like he's genuinely focused on just playing and helping team.

Vuc is no longer featured like one of the main focal point of the offense. He looks overpaid lol.

Coby started rusty, but got hot later. I think he just needs to get more games under him and he's going to be ready to pick up where he left off last season.

Ayo shows great confidence, he'll pick up where he left off last year too.

Pat is forcing things, I understand he's under pressure, especially with the new contract. But looking at Pat and then looking at Matas, it's really concerning. Whatever Matas have, Pat is missing that.

The main thing is for Pat to stay healthy. It seems like anytime he generates he series of good games and is about to have a major upswing as a player, he gets injured.

Matas 8-)

Trade Zach, Vooch, Coby all by deadline/draft, add our 2025 1st (Flagg, VJ or Ace etc.) {love Coby btw}

Keep rebuilding pls

Coby & Matas are the only reasons to watch this season.

Sure, Pat can come off the bench but I'm tired of watching a player who just doesn't have any fire in him.

Unfortunately, the time to trade him was before they signed him. Of course, most recently he was injured so...

1st preseason game. But the Bulls were -18 in his 13 minutes of playing time. The problem is, that is consistent with his past performance. You can not afford to have him on the court if you are trying to win games.

Why people didn't get mad on AK extending him?

I was. I was disgusted. Just like I was with Vuc's extension.

More excuses for Pat. He has a lot to prove, he hasn't earned the leeway that truly established vets get during preseason.

He's fresh off an extension many people feel was undeserved. Regardless of the results, it would have been nice to see him come out and play with fire or show something new he added to his game, but he's literally the same old Pat with the same old problems.

He's still dribbling the ball off his foot on a basic straight line drive...in year 5...

He could have still improved his handle despite his injury by doing daily stationary dribble drills, but he obviously hasn't as he's still dribbling the ball off his foot.

How does Matas already looks better than Williams ever did? This question is for all Williams supporters. If world was fair place, Matas would be earning 20M and this one would play in 2nd Greek league.

Still recovering, he was listed as questionable / doubtful before the game.

Why? That’s not really how scouting works. Rookies are supposed to have terrible games. Especially early.
