Yeah, fair enough, I'm sure the comments weren't meant to be scathing either, nor does Scottie need my defense, but I doubt I'd be watching either if I were in PIp Sr's position.

As I’ve gotten older watching my sons play basketball has become my favorite thing to do in life. Literally, there is nothing I would rather do barring like a trip overseas or something. Fortunately I still have a Jr. and an 8th grader left who both love it so I have 5 seasons left to go. I can’t relate to Pip on this one.

At least not given that the game was against the Bulls. I’m sure most NBA parents don’t watch all 82 games a season for whole careers.

Totally relate.

My sons are playing together on the JV team at their HS here in SF. No freshmen teams here. My Soph son is starting SG and my Freshman son is 6th man. Watching them play together is so awesome. Sat mornings we play together in open gym runs at the local rec. Playing with them has been more fun than winning two state championships playing HS bball. It’s like the best gift I didn’t even know could be given.

Me 3. My son is still in third grade, but it's always so fun to watch him play. He's usually the tallest kid on his team, but as you may know, kids at this age level unfortunately don't know/want/are scared to make a pass, so he rarely gets the ball. I feel for him because sometimes the only time he gets to attempt a shot is when he gets an offensive board. He does put in his effort on defense though, which gets me my proud dad moment when he shuts down that kid on the other team that steamrolls everybody else :D

Now that ppl are making long term plans with Zach, it's the perfect time to trade him. I think teams like Orlando, Charlotte, Detroit, Indy and the Clippers make sense for him. Teams not tanking but who aren't at the top of the league who and can't attract top free agents. A young player, a contract and a pick. Let's start to turn this roster over.

Again I think acquiring Zach will be difficult for anyone in season when salary matching rules and such need to be adhered too. Orlando I imagine is kicking themselves for not attempting to buy low on Zach and instead shelling out for KCP who's averaging 7 points on 23% 3P%.

Now, in season - I don't see how they combine salaries to make something even make sense.

Similar for other teams.

Difficult, not impossible. Moving a big salary is always tough but if I'm the Bulls I'm a motivated seller. This is the best he's played in 3 years and the healthiest he's been.

I'd add the Lakers to the list btw.

Anyone who doesn’t want to read a long dad story, skip over:

That’s very cool that you get to see them play together in HS. That is a dream of mine. My oldest son was a full 4 years older than my middle son, so they were never in HS together. He graduated, and the next year my middle son played varsity as a freshman. Missed it by one year. He’s quite good but him making varsity as a freshman was because it’s a small town and because the senior group my oldest was with were the whole program. The three grades behind them were unusually bad, so several freshman from a really good group made varsity and played regular supporting roles.

Anyway, the dream is alive but probably unlikely. My 8th grader will be a freshman next year when my middle son is a senior. He will be a varsity starter again. My 8th grader is definitely the best at this age of my three and will be the most ready by far physically and skill wise to get a varsity jersey compared to his brothers. The difference is the whole program is much stronger now and there is a lot more depth in the grades above him. But I hold out a little hope they might end up with some garbage time together at the end of the year or something as a reward if my youngest earns it at the JV level.

I remember those days. If the player doesn’t dribble they barely touch the ball that early.

Crazy how Zo has already missed 14 games with that wrist.

Should be back against Wiz.

Thinking that pushes JP out. Buz better keep his mins.

Return to Chicago Bulls
