By the way, two year/35 million makes a ton with a PO for next year makes sense for Anthony. He comes here and plays with Rose or takes a 4 year max back in NY next year. It would probably be close to 4/102 for him meaning he's out about 10 or so million.

If he stays with Chicago, he can re-up for max in two years with early bird raise.

On defense yes. Outside of that. No sir. Gasol was nearly a 17-10 player in 31 mins per in a offense that did not fit him.

It used to be lunacy. It's not now, though. It's 2014, aka the downside of Gasol's career. He'd be lucky to have another good year in the tank. Gasol might put up more points, but there's a good chance he'll break down more frequently and for longer periods. He only played 60 games last season and 49 the season before. You said yourself that Gasol is not Taj's equal on defense. Gasol would be good with us as a luxury addition. We have a gaping hole at SG. Ignoring that for Gasol, who is no longer a franchise player at this point in his career, would continue the insane trend GarPax have maintained for years where we field (relatively speaking) substandard garbage at SG. At the end of the day, Gasol does appeal to me. Unfortunately, he doesn't come close to fitting our roster's needs.

Saying the names Ben Wallace & Carlos Boozer in the same sentence as Pau Gasol is a huge insult to Pau.

I will admit. Ben Wallace is the only modern era FA signing that I was completely like "WTF were they thinking?" on.
I wanted to keep Chandler.

Seriously though. Some of the posters going on about this nonsense of Pau not being needed, not being a upgrade or Taj being better needs to stop. Taj isn't even a starter, Pau helped win two titles and on the down side of his career is still a better player.

Taj is a better defender, that's it. Everything else is clearly Pau. Way too many fans writing off Pau as if he is on his last leg. He is still a top notch PF in this league and will likely be a big boost to the team he signs with.
We are not going to get a SG either way, Melo and Gasol are the top targets. They have checked in a few guys but if we sign Melo they will be out of our price range anyway.

It would be one thing if the Bulls were in on a Melo type who was a SG but we are not and we still need a upgrade in the front court. People act as though losing Boozer and added no one else will be a easy thing.
Boozer for his faults was the offense at PF, Pau would upgrade and replace him, Taj would remain in his role.

If we simply eliminate Boozer and then just elevate Taj to more minutes that does not fill the hole left by Boozer's exit. We still need another offensively talented big.
