Man... I love the smoke around us being after Bamba and trading up... but the fact that this is being leaked makes me think it isn't happening at all.

Nobody heard a damned thing about Jimmy getting moved last year until the day of the draft, IIRC.

I agree and it makes me happy honestly because he is one of the players I wanted least anyway. In most cases you need to draft the better offensive players and find D through the draft. Picking a mainly defensive player at 7 isn't the best way to draft IMO. Heck look at championship winning teams how many of them don't have top level offensive players? I know you need some defense but most of the titles are won by teams with dominant players on offensive. How many teams have won with dominant defense and eh offense? I can't think of any and if there are some I'm missing I'm pretty sure its not many teams that fit that mold.

I quite frankly don't give a rip what Thomas or Roy think of Porter. He has high school accolades and that plays a big part here. I know what I see I tape and I question the stardom label that gets attached to him.

I think he has a role in the NBA as a scorer and feel he's a Rudy Gay type prospect. Just like you won't see me using Garnett to pimp up Bamba.

That's the curious part to me- Isiah Thomas is a HOF player. You'd think his opinion would carry some weight. Same with Brandon Roy- he coached Porter. If anyone knows what he's about, it would be him. Yet you say you couldn't care less what they say. Baffling.

It's not that Isiah Thomas. It's current IT.

What is Roy supposed to say other than glow about him? It's his coach.

It was THAT Isiah Thomas- in the interview with Porter, bringing up KD comps.

How come every possible compliment about Porter, every positive assessment, every highlight reel, always gets rationalized away for one reason or another, yet when there's a wild rumor about him sitting out a year, or someone says he doesn't pass the ball, that's taken as the gospel truth?

Batum, KG, IT...what they say about prospects mean jack squat in terms of how you should evaluate a player. It's nice to hear but it doesn't mean much.

I'll take the evaluation by a current or former nba player who has seen the guy in person, over an internet wanna be GM everyday of the week.

I am not sure I'd put my hand in fire for Isiah Thomas being a good talent evaluator...his Knicks stint is still legendary, but in Billy King way

He drafted Damon Stoudamire, T-Mac....etc

Stoudamire was a beast at AZ a lot of people thought he would go top 5 and IT picked him at 7..... and T-Mac was a generational talent obvious to everyone. Neither were exactly picks that would make anyone a good talent evaluator or drafter.

I may be wrong, but didn't he some decent picks in the mid to late first round with the Knicks- like that guy with dreadlocks who was a ferocious rebounder? And didn't he draft Channing Frye? There was also a pg he took late that ended up sticking in the league for a good long while.

Don’t believe all these rumors or insiders. Sure teams will have a lot of trade talk,but many times they don’t fall through. So just wait to see if it actually gets done,don’t rely on the insiders. Paxson probably doesn’t even know if he’s trading or who he’s picking yet lol.

Not really, because alot of things right now are out of his control with 6 teams currently picking ahead of him. Sure, he knows who his desired target is, but he cant control whether or not that target falls to him
