It's definitely 12-year-old kids watching Curry and Lillard and saying "I can do that too" and simply never being taught properly until they're in the NBA. AAU and college coaches have absolutely no incentive to completely change a kid's shot when it will take them years and they won't even be there anymore.

Their dad is really the biggest culprit, he is a complete idiot blowing money on creating stupid shoe brands and new leagues when the payoff of getting a proper pro trainer for LaMelo would have been far greater.

LaMelo with a normal looking shot would likely be the undisputed #1 in this draft.

You can't be serious here. He has two sons in the NBA. How many do other families have? And top 5 picks too.

Sure. But if he had really tried to do everything he could to help them improve their basketball skills instead of just looking at them as some cash cow for his Shark Tank reject ideas, maybe Lonzo would be on the path to becoming a star player instead of what appears to be Bruce Bowen with fancy passes.

He's already cost the family millions by making Lonzo turn down Nike. Who knows maybe even LiAngelo would actually be a pro if he had ever gotten proper training.

Wendell isn't really a problem though, he just needs to develop, stay healthy and be used differently. He ranked 26th in the league in DRPM. He was supposed to be used as a stretch 5 offensively. He helps the team more than he hurts us.

Lauri is the problem right now as he regressed offensively, his efficiency has only regressed and he is a negative on defense ranking 309 in the league in DRPM. He was supposed to be this unguardable 7'0 bigman who could shoot 40% or more from 3. Instead his efficiency has declined every season since entering the NBA.

I don't know what any of that has to do with our draft pick.

Neither Wendell nor Lauri matter.

It matters because we're wasting picks drafting yet another bigman when we already have young bigman who need time to develop. In addition bigman aren't as impactful in this modern NBA. Dynamic Scorers, Point Guards, 3-D Wings, Creators, Playmakers. You need these type of players to win a championship.

If jump shots were so easy to fix, we would already have our pg.

And if drafting was easy would have couple superstars on our team. Yeah, water is wet. Now can we focus at least getting basketball player and not a clown ala type Cam Payne which Lemao is. Position where which player play is irrelevant.

There is no realm where I'm trading anything draft related for Rose's 1y contract. Honestly, I don't even trade Hutchinson for Rose. Like I said in trade thread, I'd do a Dunn or Valentine S&T - I think it's fair considering these two young-prime guys have atleast figured out their niche strengths, and Rose is probably not staying in DET.

The Wolves offer is interesting, but a Coby-Edwards-LaVine outfit would be one fugly chuck-fest.

Clarke is a very good prospect but he hasn't proven enough to be the only core piece coming back for LaVine.

Update mock has obi toppin to the warriors 2nd.

Has us taking okongwu. Ball to the hornets. Deni to Cleveland

Hard to see things playout like this

I can't see us passing on Deni and Wiseman for Okongwu.

Okongwu is similar in many ways to Wendell. I can't see us abandoning Wendell right now. I like Okongwu and wouldn't be upset if we took him at #4 but position wise we don't need him and I don't see him being the BPA at #4 either.

Only bigs I would take a shot on is wiseman or obi toppin because they could have high ceilings. The other bigs I dont see them as ever being better than lauri or carter jr.

brandon clarke just had a better season than zach lavine has ever put up

(zach is only 18 months older than clark so it's not quite as damning as it might otherwise seem. but i think the vast majority of teams would take clarke with three years left on his rookie deal over lavine on a two-year market-rate contract even if it's not a bad price)

LaMelo has so many red flags and such a low floor that you wonder if it's worth the risk. Beside's questions about his shooting, shooting IQ, and defense. There is some issues about his personality.

“For LaMelo, it wasn’t very good. He barely played in the Lithuanian League games. One former teammates described him to me earlier today as ‘lazy’ and ‘arrogant.’ Wasn’t really engaged in the whole process. (He) played undisciplined, which we’ve seen in AAU ball. But didn’t really get better. And that’s the goal over there for a 16-year-old is to improve and get better. Multiple people I talked to on that team, on Vytautas, said LaMelo really never bought in.”

I mean I kind of get it, he's a 16 year old kid in a brand new country. Not every 16 year old is mentally sound and responsible. But it should give you a pause to think why he couldn't make the best of his opportunity he had while he was there. His NBL days were better and showed some interesting aspects of his talent(Note:he did get more minutes and more touches ). Like his elite passing and ball handling ability. So I can see why some love his talent and ceiling. But he leaves a lot to be desired.
AKME? More like MEAK with how they're afraid to make a move to push us in one direction.

I look at the Bulls and I don't see alot of attractive trades pieces OTHER than contracts.

- Lots of guys who COULD be better with a real coach and some consistency (what I said all of last year)
- Tons of youth

I don't get the Lauri hate. For a month or 2 he was reeeeeeaaaaaaaaallllllllllyyyyy good. So he has it in him. Lots and lots and lots and lots of well paid players in the NBA don't even have that potential. Lauri has proven he does

This is not a good draft. Maybe there is a player that another team is absolutely over the moon about ? It happens every year? But I suspect we keep the 4th and try to fill a need.

#1 need? A real PG. Doesn't even have to be that good at anything other than dribbling and passing. Surely that exists out there somewhere?

We still have a bunch of players who could develop. Who have the potential to develop. Under a good coach might develop. Would seem like a sound strategy for the short term - see what you have

As for the draft? I have no freaking idea. I kind of think a player will fall to us and that is who we will end up taking

The 1st package is one I would do.
But minny could def do better than that for their 1st pick

I dont see the point of the pistons deal when we can just keep our 4th and sign rose next off season.

And the memphis deal is just a joke all together lol

it's no hate for lauri its a reality with his situation. He has a contract up coming and he is not a good investment long term. So rather than lose him for nothing or being forced to match some big contract that we would quickly regret but being forced to do so or lose him for nothing, if we could flip him with a year left for another swing in the draft hoping to find a star we should do it. Sure lauri could blossom elsewhere but we have had more than a sample size with him to realize its more likely he won't blossom here.

If OO is your 4 you are in big trouble. He’s John Collins Bam which is a 5 in this NBA. I’d rather just play Gafford there and invest in wings.

John Collins spends half his time at the 4.

John Collins with better defense is the no-doubt #1 pick in this class.

We are 1 year removed from Siakam being the starting 4 on a championship team. Siakam actually played the 3 for stretches during that run next to Gasol and Ibaka in the Philly series.

Siakam was a 3rd/4th option next to the best player in the league.

As for Collins #1... who still can’t handle the ball and will never be more than a 3rd option.

Lead handler. 1st option. Never a big. Jokic and Embiid are the best in the league and still not enough.

https://www.nbadraft.net/situational-analysis-tyrese-haliburton/

"Perhaps his greatest upside is on the defensive end, where Haliburton snagged 2.5 steals a game thanks in large part to his long wingspan (nearly 6-8) and his excellent anticipation skills. He projects as the ideal switch-everything wing defender along the perimeter. Even though he’s quite skinny at this stage of his development, he isn’t afraid to bang with bigger, heavier players on the boards. He is an incredible transition threat, given his predilection for jumping passing lanes and his ability to finish at the rim (nearly 69% at the tin, via Synergy)."

He is our Tayshuan Prince in a PG setting with passing and shooting.

I thought by all accounts he was better and more mature this past year. Man was 16 years old.
