I did, Davion Mitchell didn't need help guarding Coby. The same can be said for Bam and Wiggins.

If you watched the game, you would know Davion Mitchell didn't start!

Davion didnt start, Coby was 2-2 for 6 pts to start the game w/o Davion, then Davion came in and Coby went 3-18 shooting the rest of the way. Coby wasnt doubled much. Davion just hounded him and played a great game. He guarded Coby well in their matchup last week as well.

You're taking what I said out of context. In my original quote, I was talking about Coby's turnovers against double-teams.

Here is a video of what I was talking about:

Coby turned the ball over several times when he was double-teamed. This is a fact. It is not a debate!

He didn't need to start, he played 33 minutes. NBA.com has a matchup tracker, and guess who spent the most time guarding Coby? Davion Mitchell. Followed by Wiggins and Bam. The Heat weren't sending multiple defenders at Coby.

Spoiler:

If you really watched the games, you wouldn't need to check a matchup tracker!

Coby White was double-teamed throughout the last 2 games vs the Miami Heat. Here are the highlights:

Double-team timestamps: 0:33 mark. Again at the 1:00 mark.

Double-team timestamp: 1:45 mark.

These are highlight videos, so they don't really show the Heat's game plan for guarding Coby. However, if you watch the games, you will see Coby turning the ball over several times due to being double-teamed. He turned the ball over trying to pass out of double-teams and split double-teams.

Yeah...those are not double teams...like at all...

I can't tell if you're trolling. All those exclamation points and insistence that basic help defense and rotations are double-teams is kind of sus. If you don't know the difference between double teaming and help/rotation defense that's fine, but at least allow yourself to learn from it.

Out of all the examples you showed, that 11 second clip is the only one that even comes close to being considered a double team, and even that's a stretch. To me it looks more like a defender taking advantage of an opportunity opposed to any game plan based around doubling Coby White.

Otherwise, stop quoting me because you didn't watch the game!

Coby White had several turnovers due to being double-teamed. In one instance, Stacey King criticized him for trying to split the defense, which led to a turnover. Unless you can disprove that this happened, I don't know what you're trying to prove.

Spoiler:

1. Bad pass
2. Offensive foul
3. Double
4. Gets picked because his head isn't up and he never sees Herro

Spoiler:

1. Loose ball, not sure he had possession, but they called it a TO
2. Out of bounds
3. Either stripped by Robinson on the dig, or he loses control of the ball
4. Double
5. Stripped by Wiggins
6. Herro catches Coby being careless again
7. Bad pass in garbage time

I don't know what you saw, but Coby wasn't being doubled.

Coby had more turnovers due to double-teams than anything else. You just said it yourself!

If two defenders are guarding one player, it's a double-team. The reason they're defending him doesn't matter. If two players help defend or rotate to one player, you can't say it's not a double-team because, by definition, it is.

Coby turned the ball over multiple times when being double-teamed. He didn't turn the ball over multiple times when Mitchell was guarding him one-on-one. The only steal Michell got on Coby came out of a double-team.

Against one-on-one defense, Coby got to his spots and mostly missed. Missed shots didn't kill the Bulls vs the Heat, but turnovers did. Billy said this after the game, and AK said it in his press conference at the end of the season.

Are you serious? On #4, Herro and Mitchell switch on a screen. After the screen is set, Mitchell stops guarding Coby.

A double team caused 2 out of 11 turnovers. Coby played 35 minutes in game 1 and 41 minutes in game 2. Over an hour on the court and only 2 doubles. I'm not seeing how you interpret this as Coby was being doubled.

Ice Man wrote:I mean, we've been through this before, but the teams that finished "ahead" of us in 2017, the year that we are said to have improperly tanked -

1) Phoenix - Got little from its draft pick, got better regardless, now terrible
2) Memphis - Got JJJ, that helped a lot, they are now pretty good but not really contenders
3) Atlanta - Got Trae, that helped but nevertheless they are going nowhere
4) Orlando - Got nothing from its draft pick
5) Dallas - Got Luka, that worked out great, now they're toast
6) Sacramento - Got nothing, going nowhere
7) Chicago - Say no more

That evidence isn't much of an advertisement for tanking, aside from Dallas having a nice run. Truth is, our odds are probably higher building with Giddey + Matas and hoping that they play well enough next year that we're not a lottery team.

I know, people will say that those guys aren't good enough, but come on now. Jaylen Brown had a VORP of -0.6 as a rookie, whereas Matas was -0.2. At age 22, Tatum had a VORP of 3.4, while Giddey was 2.7 this year. Or look up Mobley & Garland at those ages, or the best current players on the Rockets. Most guys who end up being Top 2 options on a strong team aren't recognized as such when they are the ages of Giddey & Matas.

I'm not saying it's going to happen with those guys, but damn if it's not a better bet than taking the Charlotte/Wizards path.

PHX - 4 playoff appearances, 1 finals appearance, 1 WCF appearance
MEM - 3 playoff appearances, 4 if they win tomorrow
ATL - 3 playoff appearances, 4 if they win tomorrow, 1 ECF appearance
ORL - Bad pick
DAL - 4 playoff appearances 5 if they win tomorrow, 1 finals appearance, 1 WCF appearance
SAC - Bad pick

These teams fell apart because of bad management, so I don't see the evidence against tanking here. 4 years after this draft, the Mavs, Suns, and Hawks all had at least 2 playoff appearances and 1 deep playoff run. Is Giddey and Matas going to get us a conference finals appearance?
