At least the Heat have a creditable source (Not SAS). The Knicks seem more like opinions to me.

I will bump this thread up when Lebron signs with Chicago.

I just don't see Lebron picking Miami over Chicago.

I don't know if this has already been posted, but ... Dave Kaplan said that sources told him, Phil Knight will offer Bron the biggest Nike contract ever, if he signs with the Bulls.

No, I mean the angle from Nike in this is what, that Bron in Chicago would sell the most shoes overseas right?

As opposed to Bron in NY or wherever else. Due to the Bulls, I guess, having the best name rep from Jordan's days.

the overseas shoe market is huge, especially China. They (especially China) worship winners which is why Kobe outsells Lebron from what I remember. Thats why Nike has always wanted Lebron to go to Chicago and win. Not sure how they would feel about him winning in Miami though.

Well I think MJ is one of the reasons. The other is that Bulls have the best chance to win. Well Miami might, but Lebron's name won't get quite the recognition if he was part of a super team. Which leaves with the Bulls. It's been reported, that the best way for Lebron's brand to take the next step, is that ring. It's why he is currently trailing Kobe so much.

He didn't elaborate on the thought. I guess PK saw what Jordan did in Chicago, along with a roster ready to win and feels like Bron could possibly duplicate Mike's endorsement success (to an extent).

Kap's a BIG homer so you never know if this is true or not.
Just a must-watch army of possessed ass-kickers laying the smack down night after night after night. People are gonna hate playing the Bulls this year.

It just makes to much perfect sense mon' plus we got Rose, Noah, Deng, Taj, + Whoever else we sign stoney, thoughts but seriously amirite?

The Bulls are still one of the biggest brands internationally, at least from my experience in the last few years (not sure how they compare to the Lakers these days). As someone posted on another site, imagine an ad something like the following:

Jordan shooting the big playoff clinchers wearing Bulls uniforms and Nike gear transitioning into LBJ tying his shoes getting up off the bench in his new Bulls uniform with Nike gear and the text saying "Here We Go Again...Just Do It"

Goose Bumps? me too.

EDIT: This approach wraps LBJ into three (Jordan, Bulls, Nike) of the most powerful international basketball brands even before he wins his first championship. No other free agent destination can offer LBJ this sort of exposure on day one, not even NYC, in my opinion.

China?

Its also why trading for Yi Jianlian makes some sense.

Business sense at least

Not that Lebron or Nike need a Chinese national on the same team to lever into China and the broader Asian market

But he's the cream in their coffee

Yi will be a good backup to Taj. Yi >>> Warrick

I agree Lebron in a Bulls jersey and the fact that Yi's with them will be tremendous for Nike.
