Shawne Williams has been solid when he has gotten minutes. So his minutes go up for sure with Chandler and Gallinari gone. Problem is Chandler played alot at the 4 and now those minutes will go to turiaf and it seems ronny is always day to day with some sort of knee problem.
If a deal gets done as currently speculated, being able to hold onto Fields and Mozgov (especially Fields) was the key.

I suspect whatever combination of solid players are traded, the holding onto those not traded will be touted as key.

So Carmelo is weighing how the CBA impacts his contract. Wow. That's the guy I want as my franchise player. All about the money.

they already have Affalo
guess it depends on whether they're higher on re-signing chandler at SF or afflalo at SG. both are restricted FAs this summer

Billups has really started to decline this year. He's still ok, but he's not like he used to be. A healthy Felton (or even Harris) is better, both this year and definitely into the future.
As for the Deals, the NJ one is, of course, very decent for NJ.
One solid veteran in Harris,
One raw but very talented young prospect in Favors,
and four first round picks (although only one figures to be very good).
The New York deal is great for NY, but not so good for Denver.
One late first, one solid young veteran (Felton), but then the prospects are middling. The most consistent player is Chandler, but he's an expiring. Gallinari doesn't excite me - he seems like a solid starter throughout career type - nothing special.
Gallinari, Chandler (for only the end of the season?), and a late first << Favors, high first, three mid to late firsts. At least Favors has upside.

Chandler is restricted. That increases his value exponentially.

UGH...they pay no state tax...they're already filthy rich and they took what? 1.5 mill less a yr? and I could be wrong but Bron and Wade took cuts..Bosh didn't..but they're bonafide megastars..and he isn't
MJ was making 30 mill for each of his last two seasons...
All franchise players about about 'the money'...period

UGH you can find whatever points to support any argument I'm sure. Many, many, many athletes have taken less money to play for championship teams in almost every sport over the history of time. It would be a waste of time to list them all.
Maybe a casual sports fan might believe "All franchise players about about 'the money'...period" but anybody with knowledge of sports would disagree. Of course you'll disagree so don't respond.
It's this type of posting that makes this board almost unbearable.

You can't have it both ways by saying all franchise players are about the money and then excuse players who are not about the money by saying their already rich. Rich or not, more money is more money.

Wait so let me get this straight.
The Knicks seriously think an old Billups, Fields, Mozgov and scrubs is a good enough supporting cast to get them deep in the playoffs? Especially when Melo and Amare aren't the best of the best themselves? And when they'll probably have no cap room for a 3rd star?
They're in for a lot of 1st/2nd round exits these next few years.

Re: OT: Nets & Nuggets Reach Agreement On Trade; Now Its Up To CA
Chandler would make a lot more sense for the Nuggets if they could move Harrington.
I wonder if they are going to try to package Harrington and Nene to Houston for Ming's contract and a couple firsts, or something, although it would leave Denver tremendously thin in the frontcourt - I don't know that I'd do that.
And if I'm Houston (and I haven't been able to get Nash), my target would be Chris Kaman for relatively cheap - Shane Battier and Brad Miller would almost certainly do the trick. Risky - another injury plagued center - but when healthy he can play.
But if Denver could move Harrington, then Chandler could start at the 3, and in small lineups play the 4, with Gallo in reserve and with Afflalo resigned at the 2. I wonder if Dallas would trade for Harrington - someone to legitimately back up 'Dirk. Or maybe Portland for Pryzbella to get more usable size?
Edit - even better idea for a Harrington trade if NY 'Melo trade goes down: Harrington to New Orleans for Marcus Banks. Pure salary dump. Banks' is expiring and does nothing. Harrington goes there and does ala what New Orleans was looking for from Jamison - some off the bench scoring at the 4, maybe some big 3. Denver gets cap space, keeps Nene.
pg: Felton, Lawson, Banks
sg: Afflalo, JR
sf: Chandler, Gallinari
pf: Martin, Anderson, Sh. Williams
cc: Nene, Anderson

New Jersey should be mad about two things:
1. Melo clearly doesn't want to play for them.
2. Denver has lead them on a string for half a season.
Denver's strategy worked. They got New York to propose fair value. Only question now is considering the Knicks deal is fair value, why hasn't Denver accepted and ended this?

NJ got used...
BUT...for all we know....maybe NJ did it on purpose.
Look at it like this.
The Nets know Melo wants NY....and not matter what they do...he will still shun them for NY.
So....some may call this collusion...some may not...
But...NJ...who declared themselves out if it....now jump back in when they know they have no real shot? Why? To give Denver leverage and help force the Knicks to over-pay. If Melo would have kept his mouth shut about the money....this would have never been an issue.
NJ's rewards for helping Denver? Watching NY have to gut the roster AND overpay (in salary) for Melo...while at the same time....working on a side deal with Denver (Murhp).

They still hope CA will meet with Jay-Z and Proky so he can go sign there or they are also asking for Mozgov/draft pick from NY.
