Wizards brass probably saw some of this, and got similarly excited.

Best NBA skill first and foremost is availability. Hutch doesnt pass that. So they can get excited watching him in suit.

2nd best skill is making an open layup...

He'll always have that hairline.

Stacey King doesn't count

We're getting sidetracked here. Hutchison is clearly more athletic than Brown.

We know but this is just excitement.

Yeah, if Hutch could buy a basket, he'd still be here. I don't think I've ever seen an NBA player so unable to make a simple layup (or any type of shot).

Tie TBJ to the shooting coach this summer cause that kid’s got a bright future if he can become a solid 3pt shooter. He’s got a career ahead of him anyway, but he’s got solid starter potential with a 3.

Reminds me of Dinwiddie in that way but if he can work on his 3 and BD gives him some time at the point off the bench he could really go places.

TBJ
Coby
Temple/P Will
Thad/Lauri
Theis

That could be a leathal bench mob.

There's really no excuse for the Wiz failure to develop TBJ this season. He made fine progress last season and should have been considered an important part of their future. The 2 problems he had were improvable - his 3 point shot and his matador defense. Granted, he doesn't have the lateral quickness you look for in better defenders, but he can at least become an adequate defender. He has the tools to help at 3 positions and was also playing some 4 for the Wiz to start this season. He's a good smart young kid who has a bright NBA future.

Thanks for the intel. I was wondering if he had any off court, or locker room issues that would explain his lack of continued investment by WAS, but sounds like that's a no since you dubbed him "a good smart young kid."

The defensive matador weakness is concerning since most fans here are immediately perceiving him as more of a defensive player. Many of us are foolishly getting fooled by lots of highlights of steals when we should know better.

Iverson was great and getting balls in the passing lanes but was obviously not a top defensive player. From the highlights it looks like Brown has good hands and uses his length to get the passes, more than iverson over committing on a steal but as stated that doesn’t equate good defense, it does make for good highlights though.

Great 1st game for Daniel. 13 points in 14 minutes and 3 blocks. 6-7 shooting. I felt he'd do really well on a team with two playmakers like Beal & Russ and he could just be a rim runner and dunker.

I disagree on faster. Hutchison has been compared to Pippen for a reason. He's the better athlete. Brown looks like he's more skilled with better BBIQ though. And he's younger.

Well, the speed thing is going to be subjective unless we see them race. Hutch is only compared to Pippen with fastbreaks and athleticism. Watching Brown first game with the Bulls, you can argue he possesses what Hutchison both has and lacks.

I mean, you can't help but be happy for Hutchison. If he busts out, then we need to find out why he was unable to do that here. If the Bulls believed in him enough to give him a promise on draft night, then they also need to put in the right infrastructure to develop talent. If that's an institutional failure, then we need to know that.

He is technically on the Wiz, but has played only 50 minutes this year.

It’s pretty easy to contribute when you have a star like Westbrook still able to distribute the ball at a high level. That’s why point guards that can create for others is so important. Makes everyone else better. Good for him.
