yea, that offense is severely lacking of talent. and their secondary is a bad. Other than Minkah. They'd probably be a bottom 10 team without Tomlin

I'd like to get Todd Moncken here as our OC.

I would not trade for Tomlin.
But if he was fired I would snatch him up in a heart beat.

I thought PIT was supposed to have a good O line- but they couldn't run the ball at all against BAL. Russell Wilson had a good game, but not nearly enough. Derrick Henry shredded them.

They’ve spent a lot of high picks but their OLine has been terrible most of the year. Started off alright but hav dipped significantly

No. Hell no. No more defensive minded HCs. As a DC maybe. But I want an offensive mind as a HC. The offense has been crap for far too long. A better offense would make the defense that much better by keeping them off the field longer. Time of Possession kills our defense, they get worn down by the 3 and outs.

top 5 most valuable rookie receivers using yards from scrimmage, TDs, PFF grade:

36873 nabers (#6 overall pick)
34760 thomas (23)
33433 bowers (13)
27142 mcconkey* (34)
19205 harrison (4)

next 5 (net positive contributors w/ bust potential):

6765 vele* (7th rounder)
6758 coker (undrafted)
5852 coleman* (33)
5028 worthy* (28)
3131 odunze (9)

*reg. season only

odunze would almost certainly be the 6th receiver taken in a re-draft. probably a 2nd rounder

While the "time of possession" thing killing the defense was probably just a couple games where you have moments the offense 3 and outs a few times in a row and the defense gets worn down, the overall theme of we need to focus on the offense should be pretty obvious.

The Bears had an above average to very good defense and one of the worst offenses in the league. Whether that focus on offense comes with the head coach vs personnel may explicitly have to be one way or the other, but the Bears are only going to be successful if Caleb Williams is star, and so whatever best helps that outcome is their best move. Maybe that outcome is doomed because Caleb Williams is just a bust, but if so, it almost doesn't matter what else they do.

So that’s the first domino to fall, albeit very expected.

I’m kinda getting the feeling that more expected things will happen just as soon as guys are able to actually agree to deals.

It was a sham process. They knew they would hire him the moment they fired Bill. Kraft said he promised Mayo a shot at HC but fired him and hired his replacement a week later. It’s dumb and we probably wasted our time even doing a zoom meeting.

Yeah. Everyone saw Vrabel being hired as the Patriots HC.

Bears need to focus on Ben Johnson.

my sudden fear is that we give up significant assets to trade for tomlin, enamored by his Leader Of Man-ness and assuming he'd be an instant fix for the franchise's culture woes

obviously he'd be a good get in a vacuum, but i'm really not interested in giving up a top 40 pick in exchange for a guy who hasn't had a good offense in 5+ seasons

Bears should’ve offered Ben Johnson the Job as soon as the Detroit Lions game again Minnesota ended

That's nonsense. Let's see how it looks two years from now.

GB v. PHI should be a good game, as well as WAS v TB. I expect the Bills to blow out the Broncos. Yesterday's games were both duds.

Bears are trying to be better. I can't say the same about Bulls. I just don't understand what they are trying to do. Bears are at least trying to be relevant and Bulls are completely irrelevant.
