chefo wrote:Just comes to show you that if you're a 6'9 center and rely on athleticism, you'd better hope you're in awesome shape and healthy, especially on the big stage. Bam has looked like utter trash the last 2 games. There's something seriously wrong with him--either health-wise or conditioning-wise. Barely gets enough lift to dunk at his height and reach; on a bunch of occasions he couldn't get 3 foot bunnies to go in because he can't get off the floor; he missed a wide open dunk last game because he barely got over the rim.

Can't get up above the rim to contest anything, can't move his feet, gets blown by. Anthony Davis is just wrecking the Heat and not even bothering guarding him on D so he's pretty much permanently camped in the lane.

On another note, kudos to the Lakers. They're playing D from the 90s Heat/Knicks playbook--if you foul them 5 times a possession, the refs will stop calling it after a while and you just run them over. I can appreciate that as an old-timer. The sheer amount of contact that goes on every switch, the amount of elbows thrown, pushes in the back, holding, etc. That's as old school as it gets. You can see that the Heat are like deer in the headlights and can't handle that kind of physicality--they're panting with exhaustion and can't make a FT to save their lives.

All that pretty motion and P&R heavy O that doesn't have a big to score easy points grinds to a halt when the zebras let the D play very aggressively on the switch and it has a legit 7-foot anchor on D behind them. It took the GOAT to beat these kind of Ds consistently; so whomever wants to compare eras, just see the perfect example of how much it takes out of you when you have to wrestle a guy every possession down the floor.

Bam is definitely in shape but he wasn’t ready to come back when he did, but it is the Finals. There is on,y so much treatment can do. With Butlers heroics that team wanted to come out and play but clearly Bam wasn’t 100%. Even if he was they are playing monster talent and that’s a chore in itself in perfect health. Hats off to getting there and making a fight if it. Was supposed to be an uninteresting lopsided series that lots predicted to be a sweep. Good on the Lakers for coming through too... to be honest I thought the Clippers were the favorite at the beginning of the season and he’ll they didn’t even get to face the Lakers. This season excited me at the outset because it was wide open and I felt if Lebron and AD were healthy it would be a load for anyone and they were. No one even in Miami expected them to be there at the beginning I gotta of the season. It’s a shame that Covid crashed this season because it was truly one of the most interesting one in years to come about.

AD just needed the right wing superstar next to him which he never had in NO. Plus, he was healthy.

And, Lakers have length and that's been a problem for Miami.

It happens, but too bad we didn’t get to see this underdog healthy vs. the heavy favorite.

You could see how much easier the offense was in glimpses tonight w/a clearly hobbled Dragić. Fully healthy, he takes a lot of pressure off Jimmy.

Don’t expect that it would’ve changed the result, but would’ve been even more fun to watch.

The Lakers literally rebuilt trading away their prized draft picks. That would never happen with the Bulls.

The Bulls would trade away those players if a superstar like Davis bascially declares he wants to come here.
Losing to get high draft picks and hoping they turn into franchise players is not some next level, genius move. That's what teams want to happen in any rebuild/tank or whatever you want to market it as.

Did Frank Vogel get a hair transplant? His hair's made a pretty epic comeback.

Crucial 1:06 today lol. Cant stand that guy getting a ring.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

Too bad the Heat never brought its best to the Finals. Bam and Herro were complete, utter busts for the series, and with Goran out that's just too much to overcome. You can't consistently beat a Finalist with Jimmy Butler, a role player in Jae Crowder, and another role player in Duncan Robinson.

Ah heck, what I am saying, Robinson had only one truly good game. None of the Heat really showed, except for Butler, Crowder in a role player way, and Olynyk was good when he got a chance. That was it for Miami, the kids rolled over on the big stage.

Ah well LeBron gets a ring for a third team, that's something to celebrate. (Green font.)

3 title with 3 different teams. Congrats Danny Green!

On a serious note, Lebron's FMVP speech made me sad. "I want my damn respect" for someone who has already played 17 seasons, has 4 titles/MVPs/FMVPs was something. He might not be the GOAT but give the man his due respect.

The bigger issue is that AD wouldn't be available, because Chicago wouldn't be on his list.

Chicken, egg. Egg, chicken.

A player like AD would never do that, because this franchise has lacked the reputation of a "do whatever it takes" franchise like the Lakers. Maybe things change under the new regime but even if they do it will take years to undo everything the old regime did.

Screw Lebron and AD for becoming teammates the way that they did and screw the league for letting it happen. So sick of Lebron James all these years, can’t wait till he retires.

Congrats to the whole league for a successful season. I wasn't sure they were gonna pull off this bubble playoffs but they did. And the games are extremely entertaining and competitive as well. It was a great season, all things considered.

That said, let the off-season begin. It's been a while since I was this excited for a Bulls season hahaha
