I watched that movie too man times in my youth. I am ashamed I now that movie so well. TBH I only watched Seinfeld at first because Stanley Spidowski was on it.

what is that agenda? I do think LAL was smart for locking him up, likely their only smart move this offseason. Does he still look good after LBJ is back? don't know but he is a solid player for sure and like most of LA he will look better not playing with LeBron.

I said the Lakers are not unlikely to be a play-in team before the season and have always been a huge THT fan. He won't put up the same numbers with LeBron back, sure, but having a guy who can create offense for their bench units and give LeBron at least some time to rest would be big for the Lakers.

He's a good young offensive talent but doesn't make sense given the Lakers roster. Even with Lebron out, vs Milwaukee Anthony Davis only took 15 shots and was scoring at a 60% clip. THT took 18, more than anyone on the team including Russ. Vs the Bulls THT took 19 shots, AD took 9. What happens when Lebron comes back?

There isn't enough ball for Lebron, Russ, and AD as it is and THT needs the ball in his hands to score. The guy out of those 4 who ends up not getting the ball is AD, who arguably is the one who should be getting the ball the most.

LA is also 23rd in defense when they were 5th when they won the title. Defense is 10x a bigger a concern than another scoring option.

I just thought it was a weird use of resources, especially given that they had strict financial restrictions.

The weird use of resources is paying Westbrook $40 million. Let's not get it twisted.

Retaining THT was the right call. He's a very intriguing and talented young player.

Exactly. Killing all of the little flexibility they had to begin with for Russ was just a terrible decision. They could've basically kept the same roster with Schröder (at a reasonable price, not the insane contract they offered him originally), KCP, Kuzma, Harrell and Caruso together and they would a) be a better team and b) have way more avenues to make trades later if necessary. Adding Melo, Ariza or Monk on minimum deals would have been possible in that scenario, too. I still don't understand what made them panic that much. Sure, you ended up having a bad 20/21 season and went out the first round, but that was with AD injured and a banged up LeBron. That team won a couple of months before that, after all. They blew it up for no reason.

They also could have added DDR or Buddy Hield instead of Russ. I mean the Russ thing made no sense whatsoever. Maybe they owed Washington a really really big favor?

Washington did a great job, especially when you consider this all started with them having John Wall, who was and is probably the worst contract in the league. I didn't love the deal for Russ, but he was no doubt a lot better than Wall last season and they ended up moving him for a few capable role players (which makes them better on the court and makes future trades way easier) from the Lakers. That's good management. Seems like it's working out even better than expected for them, too.

Any way you slice it, if you like THT's fit with the lakers or not, they got him on what will look like to be a good value contract. At the very least they can use him as a really nice trade asset. You could potential package him with Russ just to move Russ's contract, not sure who in the world would do that but Orlando did take OPJ (I know expiring and all)

Well, they ended up in pretty much the same place statistically, although they get there in different ways. Per 36 -

Player 1 - 26/6/6, 63% TS%
Player 2 - 27/6/4, 61% TS%

Butler & LaVine.

Watching Nuggets game and other than Jokic, none of the role players making ANYTHING out there while Philly is blowing them out.
It was a trap game for them with Embiid out. and playing Bulls team tomorrow.

I am just afraid that if it continues, their coach is going to be on them and they will play their butts off tomorrow.

Will Barton and Jokic keeping them close. Jokic with his best half of the season scoring wise. This is the blueprint if we want to win tomorrow. Let Jokic get 50 but held others check and we will give us a chance to win.

You already know that they’re going to come out on all cylinders tomorrow. They don’t even have to wait a day to make up for a bad loss.

Jokic will somehow foul out Bradley and Jones Jr on consecutive plays...

Philly actually neutralized Jokic in the 2nd half.

https://sports.yahoo.com/sixers-explain-slowed-down-nikola-061652104.html

The Sixers did send more defenders towards Jokic after halftime as they were able to use rookie Charles Bassey, who was impressive all night long, and they also sent Tobias Harris, Seth Curry, and Tyrese Maxey towards him in order to bother him and make it tough on him.

“I thought in the second half, we were able to really shift our defense towards him a little bit more and be cognizant of the other guys cutting around and just be a little bit more physical with him,” said Harris. “In the first half, he was making some really tough 3s out there kind of like positions that guards are in so for centers to go out there and guard that was tough. He’s basically coming off curls and stuff like that.”

Jokic’s official second-half stat line read three points on 0-for-5 shooting with four rebounds and two assists as he was basically neutralized. A more physical Sixers defense made sure that he was not able to have the same impact after halftime and that was a key reason why Philadelphia was able to come away with the win.

“In the second half, we just kind of bodied up a little bit better and was able to get under him,” Harris added. “Present a little bit more physicality and just really pack in a little bit on the weak side. So he wasn’t able to pick us apart.”

Might be some tricks in there the Bulls can replicate. And honestly, it doesn't sound vastly different from the gameplan against AD.

Well I think the Bulls will also come out pretty hard after their loss. I think we have more legs, Jokic can only carry so much

That’s a trade that could actually work. Oddly Simmons fits that timeline better and obviously this helps the 76’s too be cause Grant playing is way more useful than Ben not. I wonder what other players would be involved?

Another offensive masterclass from Curry last night. Pure insanity.

Return to Chicago Bulls
