Do they want him particularly because he's 2.5 years and there is something regarding their books they need clear in 3-4 years? Do they want to unload money on us as part of a deal? Are they hankering for the Charlotte pick?

BestintheEast already said it was for picks and the Magic TPE. Here is his quote "i already said magic were not offering players in return for Boozer..Picks and TPE from Howard trade are in play".

So again, what is the logic behind this move for the Magic? Why would they turn over better players on shorter contracts, or better players on cheaper contracts, for Carlos Boozer?

AAU Teammate wrote:These are reasons why you are completely wrong to attack the rumors -- because reasonable doubt is not yours to prove. You're the one making the reach, in saying it's airtight that ORL could not possibly want Boozer under any circumstance.

You can't prove an unfalsifiable claim. That's why people make them. And I'm not saying that there is no scenario where Orlando would want to trade picks and their TPE for Carlos Boozer. Boozer could marry into the DeVos family and they decide they want him to be closer to his wife in Orlando and will do anything to make it happen.

dude seriously? I don't work for the Magic..i have an in law who was an ex NBA player who does...he was in town and was looking at college players but also said he was scouting Boozer...no names were mentioned as trade partners other than picks and that Magic had TPE available from Howard trade..i have no clue why they would want Boozer over Bynum, Gasol, or Iggy but this is what i heard..its almost like you want me to make up some BS to make it more exciting or something i don't get your angle..i only posted on this thread to validate Ralph in the fact the Magic are looking at Boozer..that is all...if you choose not to believe me thats fine but i have been verified by another board member on here who knows me and knows who my in laws are.

That TPE the Bulls will get from Orlando would be useful. Plus a 1st Rounder, damn...Ralph any updates?

(TPE + Mirotic + Bobcats Future Pick + Magic Future Pick can be packaged for Love down the road.)

There is no way Orlando will take Carlos Boozer's toxic contract for the TPE AND PICKS! It'd be the TPE for Boozer and a draft pick or two.

If I'm Orlando, what would i have chosen from these groups of possibilities (admittedly this is really roughly done):

-Afflalo (good contract), 2.5 yrs of Boozer, Bulls' future Charlotte pick
-older weakened Gasol
-Bynum (injured--as usual-- and in need of long term money)
-Iguodala (in need of long term money)

It's an interesting debate. Options 2 and 3 look particularly shabby right now, Option 3 is of course the boom-or-bust.

You really can argue that Option 1 is the steadiest, conservative solid choice

For me to be thrilled by you, you have to, you know...be actually on the court.

They just let go of a 21ish PER power forward that would have cost half as much. A guy they wouldn't have to give up anything to get.

I'm not trying to pile on you, Googjob. I simply wanted to respond to this one post of yours.

I believe that the Magic were still disillusioned into thinking that Dwight Howard was staying, which prompted the move that you outlined above. IMO, they didn't want to commit big money because they were hoping Dwight would opt to re-sign & they could use the extra money for another star to pacify Dwight.

That's not true. Orlando at no point thought Dwight was going to stay this summer. The ship had CLEARLY sailed on that. The only player of significance that the Magic took on was Aaron Afflalo who has long term salary. And of course, the Bulls and other teams would likely give you shorter contracts to get Afflalo.

Keep an eye on Denver, they have what Lakers want - athletic wing players who can play in D'Antoni's system - Gallinari, Chandler, Brewer, Hamilton, they can also include one of the bigs like Mozgov. They (Denver) are also looking to consolidate and trade some of these players but don't want Gasol. If Bulls come in and offer a couple of picks (including Charlotte's) and Boozer to Denver and Lakers get to choose who they want - there's potential there for a trade.

Magic in no way want anything to do with boozer. Boozer isn't a franchise player. We have no use for him.

After what you guys got in the Dwight deal I wouldnt be so sure, your GM looks like a fool. Your GM traded a top 5 player in a 4 team deal and didnt get the 2nd, 3rd or 4th best player in the deal. All he did was secure mid to late first round picks. So it wouldnt be surprise me if your dumb ass GM took on Boozer for the TPE.

Not only that but he didnt even accomplish dumping Turtledoo's contract either.

No high draft picks
No young potential guys
no salary dump

Denver has no use for Boozer though, that's the problem.

Only rationale I can think of for ORL having interest in Boozer is that maybe they want to "tank" without it seeming like they are tanking. For example, say they traded BBD+Afflalo for Boozer+pick. That likely makes them worse this year but still gives them a "name" player to atleast create some buzz while they continue to suck and accumulate better draft picks.

LOL. Your GM signed boozer to a max deal. Well done sir.

Magic got the best deal possible considering Dwight only wanted to go to 1 team and magic weren't willing to send him to NJ. Not only did we get rid of duhon/jrich contract, we also got promising prospects in vucci mayne and harkless. Got affalo who is a good 2nd option....got ayon, al harington, and mcbob.

Don't assume we will take your overpaid player. I wouldn't even trade hedo for boozer straight up if the contracts matchd.

btw big baby is outplaying boozer which is pathetic for a guy on a max contract.

Boozers deal isn't anywhere close to a max contract.

No, he didn't. Besides, who else were we supposed to spend all of our cap space that we cleared out on? The super friends weren't going anywhere but Miami.

Magic got the best deal possible considering Dwight only wanted to go to 1 team and magic weren't willing to send him to NJ.

I'd say they got fleeced by a franchise notorious for fleecing other franchises.

Not only did we get rid of duhon/jrich contract...

J-Rich and Duhon are moderately overpaid role players. Turkoglu is the only albatross contract you guys had and somehow you couldn't get another team to take him on in a trade where you basically gave Howard away for peanuts.

...we also got promising prospects in vucci mayne and harkless

What's Vucevich's ceiling? Solid starter. Harkless is a boom-or-bust kind of guy.

Got affalo who is a good 2nd option....

Afflalo's a really good player and I'd absolutely love him on the Bulls, but he's not even close to being a 2nd option. He's an ideal 4th option and an average to weak 3rd option.

...got ayon, al harington, and mcbob

Harrington's a solid player, but he's aging and he's on a questionable contract. Ayon's a nice backup big, but McBob is trash.

Don't assume we will take your overpaid player.

Why not? You couldn't even get rid of yours.

btw big baby is outplaying boozer which is pathetic for a guy on a max contract.

First of all, it's Fat Fetus. Second, Boozer's not on a max contract.

The Magic got the best trade possible, and considering were Phillie is now i don't see why we would have wanted the second best player on the trade. And FYI nobody WANTS Boozer, they WANT the other things you guys would need to give up for someone to take him from you. Namely, picks.

The Orlando Magic, the only team in the league that wants to accumulate late first rd draft picks.....Good luck ever being relevant again.
