I actually believe that if everything goes right, it would be possible to have a team that has Rose, Melo, Love, and Noah.

Love Trade:

Boozer+2 current firsts+Butler

Melo Trade:

Gibson+Dunleavy+rights to Mirotic+Sacramento pick+1 future 1st rounder+Snell+contracts of James+Amundson (which according to my calculations would allow us to give Anthony north of 18 million starting, in an S&T)

The team would be stripped bare, but would be utterly compelling in construction. All that would be required are some swing 3+D guys and a few league average backups.

I also think that several teams have more attractive assets than we do in love scenario, la, boston, gsw. If love gets here is because he is strongly asking for it.

However if our big FA signing this summer is gasol we need a change in the FO. If love stays i prefer to keep boozer and hope for the deadline.

They would only have stronger assets because of what some would be UNWILLING to give up. Taj, Mirotic, two firsts, and our picks this season is a STRONG STRONG offer for either.

This offseason could wilder than 2010 for us. Can't wait to see how this all plays out, anything less than Love or Melo on this Bulls squad will be a complete and utter failure. The time is now for the 2nd star...GarPax need to make this happen. As D-Wade's knees get worse, the East is ours for the taking.

The more I think about it, I think that it is better for the Bulls to do Melo first, and then Love. This probably means doing both after July 1. In order to get a decent deal on Melo, we need the leverage created by our ability to sign Melo as an FA, but we lose that leverage if we do the Love trade first. In this scenario, once we get Melo on board, then hopefully Love will say that he wants a trade to the Bulls, thus giving us more leverage with Minn.

So, it would go something like this:

Draft night: Trade 16 and 19 away for two future picks.

7/1: Convince Melo to come as an FA.

7/5: Once NY sees that Melo is gone, they will be willing to deal. Bulls trade Boozer (16.8M), future pick 1, Sacto pick, Bulls 2016 pick for Melo ($21.8M)

7/10 Once the Melo deal goes down and Love sees what kind of team the Bulls have, he forces a trade to the Bulls. Bulls trade Taj ($8M), $3M in unguaranteeds, Mirotic, future pick 2 and Bulls 2018 pick for Love ($15.7M).

Rose
Butler, Snell
Melo, MDJ
Love
Noah, Smith

Plus the MLE and the BAE. And we still have our 2015 and 2017 picks.

Houston always trying to get in our business..

Hey, if they get Love, that takes them out of the Melo sweepstakes, right? At least there'd be that.

Ya what a bad couple weeks for the Knicks 2015 plans.
Lillard emerges in Portland, Kerr says no thanks, Love possibly being dealt this summer. Jackson has quite a job to do.

I'd love (no pun intended) to get on Love+Melo train but I know this team too well. It's possible to land both and it would take a clever GM. The biggest obstacle is that the Bulls would never pay the luxury tax money it would take to field a Rose-Love-Melo team.

I don't mean to be a downer but its the reality.

We're not getting both.

Love will probably be more challenging to require since he's not a free agent and there are a bunch of teams who he would be content with going to. Golden State could offer a deal starting with Lee and Barnes. Houston has a lot of sweetener draft picks to offer a team. The Lakers can offer the rights to their lottery pick after they select.

Also, you have to be optimistic to assume that either of these teams is going to pay $17 million to Boozer next season.

Woow, just seen the Love rumour and reading your positive comments and starting 5's with Love and Melo made me have a bonner.

Houston's extra draft picks are all 2nd rounders. Not that they're completely negligible, but it's worth noting. But they also have Chandler Parsons, who most folks here seem to have forgotten about. He's on an incredibly cheap contract for one more year.

Someone else pointed out that Minny already has Dieng and Pekovic at C, and Rubio at PG, and thus might not need Lin or Asik. But Houston could always trade those guys and offer Minny the return, with Parsons as a sweetener. Depending on what Lin and Asik could fetch, that might be a considerably offer than we could make.

I do think Asik will be tough to move, considering he's going to get paid $15 million next season (though it's only an $8 million cap hit). The Lakers are in a good position to make a move with that draft pick.

For Love, the Bulls could offer the reigning 6MOY, the best player outside the NBA, and two first round picks. Who is going to beat that?

Love saying he wants Chicago may do something else beneficial.....

Put pressure on Melo to get a deal done. Just a little less leverage for Melo. A little.
NBA Playoffs.... I can never wait!

It's probably been mentioned here, but GSW could offer David Lee (who was essentially a 20/10 player per 36 minutes), Harrison Barnes, and somebody else-- maybe Ezeli, maybe Crawford or Brooks-- for Love and maybe an undesired contract.

Curry/ Thompson/ Iggy/ Love/ Bogut could be a pretty darned powerful lineup.

If we get love AND melo it makes it even more crucial to have butler in the lineup to provide defense otherwise I think we lose our defensive identity completely

You're going out on a limb to assume the Bulls are going to actually offer Gibson and Mirotic. If they did offer that, then sure, it's a really competitive offer. The issue is that Mirotic being non-commital about gonig to the Wolves would diminish that offer. Another is if you think they can get both, emptying your assets for the other, pigeonholes you into praying a team takes Boozer's $17 million.

I would offer Gibson in any deal for Love or Melo, so it's not a concern for me. Golden State could offer a deal starting with Lee and Barnes, which would be competitive as well.

No one wants Lee. His contract is a negative. His productions is inflated and overrated. And Barnes is nice but I'd rather have multiple firsts than Harrison Barnes.

How are we going to give them Jamal Crawford and Andrew Wiggens?
