AKME just in this offseason bought Pat about 2 more seasons where he can just sit in the corner and be efficient.
The offense will be all Zach, Vuce and Demar. Lonzo is orchestrating the lineups and the bench unit will be led by Coby.
Ive said it a bunch, but that is the role they have set him in. He is no different than DeAndre Hunter in ATL or Makai Bridges in PHX.
The team as its put together needs a player to play really solid defense and be really efficient on offense and 3s. Its gravy if he is more than that.

Re: Bulls Summer League
Wow what a come back. Our defense came alive when Jaylen Adams, Thompson and Shittu came in for Dotson, Simonovic and Robinson sat. Dotson tried hard on defense, but he was just getting shot over (over and over again). Those 3 plus Ayo and Pat amped up the intensity and made for some easy transition points.
Some player points:
I'm sure Pat had a directive to take 20 shots. He was really ineffective when he tried to drive the rim in the 1/2 court. He seemed so focused on his dribble that he lost track of where the hoop was...good practice and thing to work on. He was effective with his jumpers, which was key. His passing was nice too, but those things were already part of his game.
Dotson wasn't terrible. I mentioned before he tried on defense, but wasn't able to bother guys. On offense, he wasn't great as a playmaker, except he made a really nice play to win the game. I know folks talk about his quickness...he's quick, but (sorta like Coby) I don't see him able to use it to create space enough to make plays.
Ayo showed his defensive ability. He reminded me of Kris Dunn tonight. Was a real pest, getting his hands on a lot of balls. His handle is pretty tight too. His big problem will be developing a consistent jumper. I'd like him to get some g-league burn to work on that.
Simonovic was just bad on defense tonight. He seems to play with neither length or verticality. He moves well, but plays below the rim, which is bad, IMO, for a 7 footer. He also is too slight to set good screens or do much in the paint.
Thompson was a big difference maker tonight. He shot great from everywhere. Played very well on defense too...he did a very good job moving his feet and staying in front of his man.
I want to see more Baxter, but, unfortunately he's playing behind Pat and rarely seeing the floor.

Is it me or does Pat looking freaking huge? Looks like he put on a ton of weight. This sized Pat looks like he could easily play the 4.

I thought Pat’s handle looked fine in the half court... in the 2nd half. He honestly looked like a different player out there, and very much like a poor man’s Lebron.
I also don’t really agree on Simonovic. He moves his feet well and was generally in position, and the Bulls started their run with him on, and continued it when he got back. He needs a lot of adjustment though. Better recognition, on both ends. Also, Really struggled finishing through contact, and some of those screens were so blatantly moving that even nba refs would call them. But I saw nba level talent... just needing development.
He, Ayo and obviously Pat were the only NBA talents on the court for the Bulls. Thompson played well, but look more like a good euro-leaguer playing up, if you know what.sometimes that translates... but often, not. Ayo flashed NBA talent, especially on D but also finishing. Think there is too much arc on his shot or something else not quite right about it.

I said it after the first game when people mention that, but in my opinion, he looks thereabouts the same as he did his rookie season. Remember, he came into the league as a 19 year solid, like he had already been in the league several years. And I think he just stands out that much more in the Summer league.
I think a better gauge of his size in game, but in still photos from summer league, which is why I think his size looks close to what he was his rookie season. Maybe slightly more toned, but bulk wise, I think it's quite close.
Why so serious?

Also, Shittu doesn’t really look like an NBA caliber player to me. Not really meant to be a knock. We aren’t talking about a large number of humans on the planet with that level of talent.
And, back to Ethan Thompson, would def be on board with having him on the Windy City Bulls. Sometimes that “look of a good euro-league player” type does end up translating, and he was active and high BBall IQ out there, at least tonight. Looked bigger/longer than 6’5, too, at least to me. Maybe just plays upright.

Re: Bulls Summer League
That's a great way to watch summer league games- just see a 10 minute clip of the best plays. Williams looked very smooth shooting the ball. If he can consistently knock down mid range and 3 balls, that will be a big help.
I though Ayo had some nice moments- like stealing the ball and then leading the break. He seems good in transition.
Siminovic looks like your typical athletically challenged, but skilled 7' Euro type center. I think there's a place for someone like that who can make shots, and play smart ball. Even if he does hurt you on defense at times.

Love summer league so amped! Love the comeback, and someone posted earlier Williams looks UGE! The only explanation is the Dotson effect.

Re: Bulls Summer League
Patrick had a pretty terrible 1st half. Was perhaps even more discouraging than what he showed in the 2nd half of yesterday's game.
But Patrick in the 2nd half was able to settle down a bit, keep his confidence up, and continue shooting. That's what I want to see. That's what summer league is for. And it's powerful for him to prove to himself that he can be productive after a slow start.
Was really amped up about Ayo's defensive intensity. I thought he was a catalyst in our 3rd quarter comeback.
Would love to see more Baxter. I don't get why others are getting minutes over him.

Start with Ayo at the point and Pat at the three and Baxter at the 4.

I agree about Simonovic I thought he would be stiff but he was surprisingly quick with his feet on defense. Not saying he ll be a defensive stopper but he at least knows how to play defense. That’s important, Lauri in 3-4 years hasn’t ever moved like that.
Some people just don’t have it, glad that Simonovic does and eventually can build on that to get better. Overall seeing him play today I don’t think he should be counted as part of the rotation yet but I too see potential for him to be a solid player in the league.Needs work obviously and more strength.

He's having trouble with the drop coverage. It's funny because from clips I had seen before, he really looked like a 5. Now that he's here (granted, it's only been 2 games, and on summer league), he looks more suited to play at the 4.
The one point I disagree is his screens. I think he did a fine job on those.
@mkhoops: More good **** from Simonovic that'll register no stats.
-- Confident to start a break off the bounce after miss
-- Hustles hard after the pass down the lane (and should have got the ball back after creating separation)
-- Sets another strong screen to free Pat for the drive https://t.co/sGIzNTGl9k
Mark had some good tweets abou the game today, I encourage everyone to check out his timeline.
Constantly underwhelmed by the Bulls.

That’s why I think he can play rotation minutes as early as this year. He didn’t do anything on offense but I was impressed by his defense & awareness on that end. I think he can come in and focus on a defensive backup role whilst also being the secondary ball handler.
Posters were talking earlier about the lack of players with an ‘edge’. Ayo needs to focus on playing with an edge every time he hits the floor and I do honestly think he can be a 15-20 minute backup with his ability to guard multiple positions.
Ayo is actually a very good mid range shooter but I think is struggling due to limited touches, speed, and feeling out nerves but I think he will adjust soon.
I also have always liked Jaylen Adams dating back to college and much better than Dotson. I hope we give him a chance. Adams is smoother and a much better shooter where Dotson being his size does not have an elite skill.

He looks massive on the court compared to others, I kept thinking that to myself watching this past game.

I’m rooting for Thompson too. Enjoyed watching his ncaa run, and booting Cade’s overrated arse from the tournament. Would definitely like to see him on the WCB. That said, I recall a couple defensive plays I didn’t really like from him, so we’ll see how he does on that end.
