I must of missed it.. When could Taj Gibson shoot 3's?

Re: Bulls select Wendell Carter Jr 7th overall
I don't hate the pick by any means. He reminds me a little of Antonio Davis (maybe a little bigger), and that's a player who had a very nice career. I also think Robin Lopez will be a good influence on making sure that he plays physical, if Lopez is still on the team of course.
I wonder about the pairing with with Lauri if the Bulls are really committed to playing 2 big men all the time. It seemed they were trending away from that with Hoiberg. Don't get me wrong, I am a fan of playing two bigs if it means dominating on rebounds on both ends and defending the rim. Just seemed the Bulls were moving away from that recently.
I would have also liked to absorb a contract to get a pick, but of course we can't be surprised about the front office's lack of creativity

WCJ's offense is much more advanced than Taj's
How? I would argue that Taj's post game was much better, even though he didn't develop that until later. Saying "Much more advanced" is a huge stretch IMO

Taj Gibson is my third favorite Bull of all time but he probably did not become a more skilled offensive player than Carter is right now until he was like 27 28 years old at least. Maybe 30 years old. Gibson came into the league when he was like 24 years old. To be fair Gibson was definitely a better Defender although Carter seems like he should be a solid Defender and possibly a good Defender eventually.

Uhhh whaaaat? Taj didn't have the post game that WCJ has coming out of college. What's not to get?TheHrvReport wrote:RememberLu wrote:TheHrvReport wrote:I just can't get excited about this pick guys. True, but that should not stop him from continually saying it.
Horford played PF for the majority of his time in Atlanta. At his insistence.
Edit: And Carter’s going to be a C. Not sure how anyone sees PF speed or ball skills.
What? Horford played C 86% of the time in Atlanta.
Just looked it up. I stand corrected. Going off memory, I recalled him complaining about playing C and thought that translated to more time at PF than he actually got.

He needs to slim down, grow 2 inches, and jump higher. PJ Brown best case scenario. Sigh.

Huh? The Bulls should never have signed Niko last summer. They were 3-20 to start he season without him. The question is whether we would rather have Hutchison (what we got for Niko) or the chance to have taken one of the top picks in this draft. Like Doncic for example.

Re: Bulls select Wendell Carter Jr 7th overall
Shouldn't go un noted that Carter & Portis should play well off eachother as well.
C Lopez / Carter
F Markkanen / Portis
F Holiday / Hutchinson / Nwaba
G Lavine / Valentine
G Dunn / Payne
IR Blakney / Felicio / Grant / Asik
Missed out on Bamba but I'm over it. I'm sure I'll like his fit on the team once the season starts. Looking forward to it. Hopefully Lauri takes the next step this upcoming season.

I keep saying it, but Horford is a PF, and so is Carter.
Horford as a prospect was much leaner and more explosive. Carter looks plodding at times. Horford was never that.
Horford certainly is that now.

What I was trying to get at is that if we didn't trade Nico we would still have Nico but we would not have picked as high as 7th. And considering Nico is a pretty damn good all-around player on a good contract this summer and is not yet old I think it's a reasonable question. Although I love Carter so I'm not angry. And yes if the Bulls were going to see Nico surpass all expectations and then trade him for a garbage draft pick a month or two into him flourishing yes if that was the way that they wanted to proceed they should have never signed them in the first place.

Re: Bulls select Wendell Carter Jr 7th overall
Hate it. We went through that entire season with the goal of getting a star running mate for Markkanen and it was a complete failure. We got nothing of significant value for Mirotic cause the Pels screwed us, that pick should have been 14-16 (and thus a flier on Porter) when the Pels should have missed the playoffs.
The Bulls should have stripped down way, way earlier than they did and lost 3-4 more games, in which case they would have been picking third or fourth, and Doncic, JJJ or Bamba would have been ours outright like should have been.
Carter is Luol Deng, Joakim Noah, Carlos Boozer all over again. Good player, just good enough to be part of a team that will forever be a first or second round playoff exit.
Congratulations Garpax, Reinsdorf, and the Bulls. You have officially proven you have zero concern to, or zero ability to, build a real contender. Boston, Miami, the Spurs, the Lakers, the Sixers, all these teams have proven they know how to get creative and/or take the necessary steps to get better, even when it means getting worse first. The Bulls should have the resources to be in that conversation, they are a big and intriguing enough market.
Instead they probably refused to put Portis and/or 22 on the table in trade up discussions because they would have had to replace Portis and 22 with veteran salaries which would probably be more expensive. They want cheap assets more than anything else and their ridiculous cheap approach to scouting the draft is demonstrative of it.

**** you. PJ was just a rebounding and put back specialist. He had a 9.4 PPG career average. You don't get this pick at all.

Not even close. LA is a legit 6-11/7 footer with an elite jump shot
