I saw his highlights from the last game, his 3 ball looks more fluid now, if still a work in progress. I thought he was extremely solid last season, good defense and rebounding, a quality bench big. It made sense for him to go elsewhere, because we're 3 deep at C and PF, but it's a pity that basically none of those guys are long term guys. Vonleh would've been nice going forward. Yet another Bull that got away.

Did the Bulls even show interest in re-signing him?

With all the injuries that the Bulls have had he would've helped. He'd also be good to have just in case Portis leaves or is traded.

Vonleh IMO was underwhelming when he played for the Bulls, heavy and slow and took forever to gather himself for a shot. Rebounded well and played solid defence though.

He looks like a different player now with the Knicks, and his stats back that up. That's what a good offseason can achieve - and I'm pretty certain that if the FO had had an inkling he was going to take this big step forward, he would have stayed. But no one knew, and so the Knicks were able to pick him up for cheap. The good ole throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks paid off for them this time.
From the basketball's perspective, travel is a nice pause from being pounded to the floor.

Not sure why this thread took a Vonleh turn, but as someone who watch the Knicks, I like what I've seen from the kid. I think he played great for the Bulls, but his issue was that he couldn't get consistent minutes. Also, Knicks need defense next to Kanter (who is their version of Lavine).

Trying to redirect the thread back to trades - How about a deal with Memphis?

Jabari/Shrek for Parsons/Casspi/Memphis 1st

Parsons' contract is crappy...but only one more year and is partially offset by Felicio's - plus we'd get a 1st.

Not sure what the deal or deals would look like but the goal of this season should be to move Holliday, Parker, and Lopez for salary and picks. Maintaining cap space with our situation seems foolish, we are a prime candidate to take salary and get some assets back.

Memphis owes Boston a draft pick next year, so the pick would be 2020 or later. It's not a big deal, but I thought I should point that out.

As for the trade I don't see why Memphis would do it. Yes it saves them money next year, but who would they realistically sign with it? Then again maybe they value Parker...?

Anybody think the Lakers might be interested in Holiday since they missed out on Ariza?

I'd only consider that for Bridges instead of Monk.

What is your take on Justin Holiday's availability? The Raptors need a bench SF better than CJ Miles, and his name was brought up. It seems like he might not be in your future plans. Is there any trade you think would be do-able on the Raptors' side?

Everyone wants to trade Holiday but he's our only SF option at the moment. Who exactly are we replacing him with, Hutchison?

IMO we need to keep Holiday at least until we draft a SF this summer.

The current roster doesn't matter. Holiday won't be in the Bulls championship window so you trade him for something that might.

Next year's 1st is probably the only thing the Bulls would be interested in.

I thought about it too, but doubt they would give Bridges, who is putting up some good numbers.

The other option salaries almost match.

Bulls need a backup PG that can score.

I dont' see Chuck Holiday being shipped out unless we are truly tanking though.

Batum has another year at 23M on his deal. He takes all our cap space next season.

Who cares? What else are they gonna do with that money?

If anything, I'd prefer the Bulls have no cap space so they don't overpay some grindy guy.

Utah is rumored to be interested in Jabari. Possible trade after Jan 15: Parker and Lopez for Favors, Exum, and a 1st.

Utah gets a bench forward scoring punch in Jabari and a backup C to replace Favors in Lopez. Could find a way to put Holliday in this deal as well.

"The Utah Jazz are one of the teams interested in Parker, according to multiple league sources" this quote was from Kevin O'Connor of The Ringer.

Not sure if they would want to give up Favors though he has been playing well for them. Lopez is definitely a downgrade from Favors. Jabari is nice for their cap structure though as an expiring deal.

No way Bulls are taking on future salary.
