2nd highest deal ever for a center, reportedly, but yeah, not horrible in the scheme of things.

14m isn’t bad. I don’t think that puts him in the top 5 for highest paid centers and for someone who was the most highly sought after at his position that’s pretty fair. I’m interested to see what Ryan Kelly gets to have a final opinion. But 28m guaranteed is definitely something I can get over.

Good to have an experienced guy there for our young QB. When its time to re-up Caleb, we can spend less there. Gotta protect the young asset right now.

i would not be surprised if there was an out after year two; kind of a perfect middle ground contract-wise. dig it as someone who was iffy on going after dalman

At $28M guaranteed on a $42 million deal, it sure would seem the 3rd year is non-guaranteed.

Trench 1 rebuilt! LG C RG. Proven vets!

Now Caleb won’t have the yips about the pocket closing on him before the shotgun snap gets him the ball.

It’s almost like Coach knows what he’s doing.

14M/yr is not terrible I guess, given that some thought he might get as much as 18. You have to credit Poles- he has done what needed to be done to fix the O line. My only complaint is why didn't he do this 2 years ago? It would have saved us a lot of bad offensive play. It seems like having Ben Johnson was the spur to get him to finally fix this. That, and watching his shiny new QB getting demolished last season. Better late than never I suppose.

Jourdan lewis is reportedly the highest paid nickel now. I don't think the numbers have been reported yet. This will definitely have on impact on a Gordon extension

That O line looks pretty darn strong right now, provided they are healthy. No real weaknesses from one side to the other. A top 8-10 center, an All-pro guard, one former all-pro guard, and two young guys on the edges. Now they can take their time developing Kiran, and hopefully they add 1-2 more young guys in the draft to develop.

This really frees up the draft. I could see them going Edge, DT, and RB with their first 3 picks now.

100%. Going into the offseason it was my only real beef with poles. I think he’s done an A to A+ basically everywhere else. Like you said, it’s a couple years late but he’s more than adequately corrected his issues. Now we just need a guy who can be at the top of the league in sacks

Should be able to get a good edge in the 2nd round. Be great to get one after Graham fell to us at 10.

How does Roschon Johnson fit into the plans? I could see him taking on the David Montgomery role in the offense if given a chance.

At this point, I'm all for trading up for him. I imagine it won't be too costly, especially if he drops out of the top 5. That might be a big if though. It sounds like its getting more and more likely one of the top qbs drop out of the top 5 and I wouldn't imagine one of these offensive linemen leap frog him.

What's good about it is that he's only 26, so he's entering the prime years of his career. And he's going to be surrounded by 2 former pro bowl guards.

IMO, he's RB3 at best and the Bears need to pick up a new between-the-tackles guy.

It will be interesting to see what difference running behind this new improved line will make for him (and Swift).
