Yikes. I don't know what Marks knows, if anything, but that sounds about as terrible as possible.

I’m still very confused. As long as the deal was agreed upon between the Bulls and the Pelicans, what was wrong with the deal being done IF the NOP covered it with Lonzo’s camp in advance??? Unless NOP thought they were going to have a shot at Lowry. They didn’t. Got pissed and decided that they wanted more from the Bulls. Bulls said no. And NOP had proof of an infraction on the Bulls part and decided to play it as an ace card.

Again, I sincerely hope that this didn’t happen as it would put a nail in Griffin’s coffin as a GM for sure. But we get screwed big time as well.

Marks can say anything he wants. Nobody knows how the conversations went. He is guessing just like everyone else.

Stick with the facts and don't get sucked into the fear.

No chance this get voided. So that isn't happening. Worst is like 5 million fine and lose a 1st round pick.

So if it's true that AKME got ratted out by the Pelicans FO, then my guess to who did it is their new special advisor who they hired last year.....

A couple things. IF this deal was put together in the period where they are not allowed to speak, the source woj and shams got the news from was Lonzos agent. Nobody told him to share the info immediately. It only benefits the reporters anyway.

Then, you have the fact that this is a stupid rule that is inconsistently enforced. Meaning, you either reach out to FA early or risk losing out since EVERY team does this.

This is 100% on the nba if we lose any picks or have suspensions.

Like others have said, I see several ways to say "how can this not be passed off as above board?" A trade was at least rumored to have been discussed at the deadline, so there's that; and if the Bulls at that time knew they were trading for a RFA then it can be reasonably expected that they would've been made aware of his salary demands. I don't see what exactly the big issue is here.

That said, I do not like the tone of this situation.

I wouldn't say no chance... The fines we can live with of course but the picks and or voiding a contract is an issue. They are almost forced to do something with Lowry too perhaps. Its a strange situation for sure. Not sure how it will play out. It isn't good that it has gotten this far though at all.

The only thing that I can think of is that teams complained because Lonzo (effectively) never hit the market. But even with that, it was a sign and trade, which means that NOP would have first had to sign Lonzo prematurely. So they’d be in just as much trouble as us…if not more so. Am I right?

If there is any major backlash from this (ex: voiding the trade) then we as fans need to voice our displeasure to the NBA. Send letters to Silver, express displeasure and let them know that we won’t support the product.

I actually remember an article or tweet saying that the Ball trade would be addressed again in the offseason after the trade deadline passed. There was groundwork done for sure as much as there was for Lowry, but it depends on how letter of the law they want to be or if they are going for the spirit of the law.

Because it was reported, that also doesn't mean it was done either, in fact it is still not done. A lot will hinge on when it was actually filed with the league I would imagine, there has to be definitive proof and if AK left that well, that falls on him, I can't fault the league if he made it easy. If I get caught speeding its not the cops fault others get away with it, the onus is on me to obey the law. It sucks for sure.

I’m predicting we lose a first round pick. Hoping I’m wrong as losing another one is going to sting.

Better get some picks from the Lauri trade so we can just flush them down the toilet as a penalty. Y'know, because a FA ultimately went to his desired destination and all.
Turn down for what?

I tend to agree but I am also not sure what Bobby Marks knows one way or the other.

He knows nothing. He is just shooting off at the mouth.
