Perhaps best to begin estimating Coby's extension value. I would not want to pay Coby $35M+ unless he became an actual all-star.

Apparently Quickley blossomed in Toronto when I wasn't looking. Quickley as a Raptor versus Coby's last season:
points 18.6 vs. 19.1
rebounds 4.8 vs. 4.5
assists 6.8 vs. 5.1.

Last season's PER was 16.7 for Quickley vs. 14.5 for Coby, win shares both at 4.7. Both in their fifth season, both 24 years old. Pretty comparable, with the edge to Quickley based on 38 games in TOR.

That three year, 40 million contract Coby got a year ago is aging so well.

Yeah, well I think they're very comparable, thus the mention. I don't think either guy is worth $35M. We have Coby for 2 seasons on the discount. Now that we're likely in a soft-rebuild, that discount becomes meaningless pretty quick if you're not expecting to be good until the year he expires.

This is why Coby likely has best value on Bulls roster. I think you can easily get good trade value and possibly very nice top pick for him. He was lottery pick and succesful in league. I personally dont find Coby to be building block of future. Maybe that's me, but I seen 1000 players play this game and he is not him. I would keep him for now, but I am just saying. In two years from now he is gonna look north of 40M per year. And that's something you need consider now as GM if you plan to keep him long term. You dont want White to be your next Lavine.

When Coby's on, he's big-time. I'll say that much. Problem is he's on about 35% of the season, if I have to be brutally honest. I feel like big money players should be able to carry 90%+ of the time. We do have 1 more season to evaluate, but between AK holding players long and Coby's numbers, I unfortunately see an overpay on the horizon.

Wow. That's all it took? Dont understand Hawks. They could have during season have pair Trae-Lavine for Murray if they were looking to get rid of him. As better fit than Murray.

But hey man, those first round picks could be anything, even 2x time All-Star.

Of course Atlanta opted for Trae over Murray.

That's a good deal for the Pelicans, they finally have a starting PG.

<insert starting C here> (Vuc?)
Zion
Ingram
McCollum
Murray

That's a great starting 5 talent wise, spacing isn't ideal though.

WOW I cant believe ATL traded Murray. If anything I thought they traded him for Ingram.

Are they trying to tank?

The Spurs have the Hawks unprotected 2025 first....

The East is garbage, tanking won't be easy, and the West continues to look like a bloodbath next season.

So let me get straight.

Bulls were in talks during season with Hawks for Murray-Lavine-Reeves swap. Lakers were being mentioned as 3rd party in possible trade. Didn't happen. Now Murray gets traded to Pelicans for likely two late 1sts, Nance and young defensive player. That's the best deal Hawks could find?

In same time Hawks dont own their own pick and it belongs to Spurs. Which means they cannot tank next year. I guess Hawks are retooling. Dont understand what this open for them. Capspace? Play for Paul George?

Holy crap that's an f'ing steal. Murray is a very good player. I put him in the same grouping as Bridges, but the cost was half. I would have done Coby or Ayo and 2 1sts (which would likely be better).

I thought it was it was pretty cheap for Murray too, but I think they're considering Dyson as a 1st round pick equivalent. He's only 20 and was a #8 pick. So maybe ~3 1st rounders of value?

They sent out four 1st rounders for Murray. Couple of years later he's worth 2.5. Great value deal for New Orleans.

Few are interested in trading for Zach and his 43M salary, the Hawks would have to send out another 20M in salary for a Zach-Murray swap. Bogdanovic can do similar things off-ball at less than half the price.

I wouldn’t be surprised if AK was trying to trade Zach for Trae or Murray. But you’re right Bogdanovic does the same or better (compared to Zach) for half the price.

I know its unverified but this guy has been right about a lot of things. Called Dejounte being moved a couple weeks ago, Redick hire, and now seemingly inevitable Randle trade. Broke numerous moves last offseason too. Sure its suspect but that what the offseason is all about. This would be crazy and open the door for Demar or Zach to LAC.

Also, could the Bulls be the 3rd team here, sending Demar to LAC for a young player (Moody?) and/or future picks.

I can believe that over PG going to Philly or Orlando. He still says in CA, still has a solid playoff team.
So is Ballmer just blowing it up with Kawhi under contract til 2027?

I will be surprised if PG doesn’t go to Dubs.

I think DDR goes to Clipps.

Klay to the Mavs.

KCP to the Magic.

Zach to the Sixers?

Return to Chicago Bulls
