I really hate that everyone over analyzes Doug because he was a great college player. Its like everyone expects him to make everything.

Maybe he's not formal roster spot worthy, but he is our best defender in SL.
Hes playing like Noah without the length(and with an offensive touch). He doesn't hurt the team defensively and rebounds well

Suns bench is playing against the Bulls, Bulls really have no chance

If Bairstow can hit his midrange shots, he will be more of a valuable backup. He's at least showcasing his 3pt shot.

Nice to see Doug take over in the end. Hopefully his confidence carries over in the regular season.
Playing with so much intensity, Portis needs to improve his stamina and strength.

I'd like to see him hit way more than 1 3 though. Seems like throughout the summer league, most of his points are off ISO plays.
He's supposed to be our Korver. Need him to hit his 3's at a crazy rate in summer league.

It's going to be hard to envision how Doug's current game will translate during the regular season. Rose, Pau, and Butler will demand the ball limiting the amount of iso plays for Doug. Either he's going to have to show more confidence in his game and take it to the hole, or hit the open 3. Everything he's doing in the SL, Niko was doing in the reg season, so I don't see him getting time over Niko. However, it was nice to see McDermott play aggressive on offense, and lead his team to a win.

I just wanna see him being elite during summer league at what we need him to be elite at. I'd take 15 pts. of only 3's, over 20 pts. of ISO plays from him. Those 3 pts. benefit Jimmy and Derrick way more, and changes our teams offense completely.

Doug is just not that type of player. He is a good shooter for sure...but mostly he is a rhythm scorer. Always has been. And he becomes a better in game 3 pt shooter once he is in rhythm from other easier high percentage scoring opportunities. Essentially, like Niko, he needs minutes and touches. Both require usage. Jimmy however...is a power SG...like Harden...he doesn't really need to warm up. Rose doesn't really need to warm up either and neither shoots better once warm...both are consistently erratic. Rose is also inefficient no matter when he gets his touches. Gasol and Dunleavy are vets...dont really need much rhythm and can get hot from the tip off or get hot or cold at any point.
But Niko and Mcderm? They are certainly rhythm scorers...they need touches. The good thing about Niko is his willingness to pass and play make so he should unquestionably touch the ball on all of our possessions at least once. Nike is one heck of a passer and has a igh willingness to hit the open...which is a big reason why Niko should never play with Noah...Noah is always open. And Niko always passes the ball back to him-expecting a professional basketball player with no one within 7 feet of him to make an 18 footer is appearently asking too much...why Bulls fans want to sit through that again is beyond me. Those 2 should never see the court together unless Noah is at Center and doesn't leave the paint.

Problem is, he's not good enough to need revving up to get his offense going. With McD, he's not a plus defender to where we can afford for him to need a few extra touches to get going.
