As a Heat fan I'm still really bummed about this, but I'm glad he's being appreciated in a new city. I always felt we in Miami knew how special he was as a player, a leader, and a person, but the rest of the country didn't. As much as I really wanted him to play his whole career in Miami, I'm happy to see Chicago embrace him. Hopefully he has another healthy couple of seasons, and if so he won't disappoint. You guys are going to be a lot better than most of the media is predicting.

I somehow doubt the validity of that. We were able to dump Kirk that offseason without a problem. I don't think it would have been an issue for someone like the Nets to take Deng.

I think that was more of a possibility when cap was supposed to be 110.

And I don't think Paul would command the full max. His max is higher than Blakes.

Didn't know Wade had so much charisma. I see why he is so well respected among his peers. If the Bulls have a good season I feel good about our chances in free agency with Wade recruiting.

My only other takeaway from his introduction is that he mentioned Doug and Bobby as young guys he has communicated with, but not Nikola. I wonder if it is cultural thing or he just thinks more highly of those guys?

I'm going to need to see Paul or anyone else not command a full max before believing they wouldn't want one, especially if they're leaving their incumbents who can give an extra year and higher raises.

I dont think you'd need straight cap space when you have deals like:

Lopez - 13 Million
Rondo - 15 Million
Niko - 6 Million
Taj -9 Million

Paul
Wade
Jimmy
Blake
Lopez

is possible in theory. The real issue is not with affordability - its that Doc hates Rondo. Otherwise, Rondo + Niko for Paul is a great trade for ALL parties involved.

The key to all this is of course, Dwayne Wade and Gar Forman. Wade has shown a LOT of pedigree in roping in stars. Gar has shown similar high pedigree in bringing in roster fillers using draft picks, exceptions, vet mins, foreign players etc.

Nets and Clips were both in the last set of 6 teams that were in the LeBron sweepstakes.

There was absolutely no incentive for them to facilitate Chicago in their pursuit by taking on Deng.

So Doc is going to be cool with losing CP3 and Griffin and effectively replacing them with Rondo and Mirotic, all while being cool with making it possible via S&T?

It's not happening. Possible in theory, not in reality. You'd also have to convince Mirotic to sign in LA. What if he has better offers elsewhere? He's a free agent too.
