Re: Kuminga sign and trade Bulls interest
I have a feeling any interest the Bulls had in Kuminga predated the draft and our selection of Noa. Hence, no need to keep Lonzo as Warriors trade bait.

I’m sure some will seize on that last line in the tweet to criticize the Okoro deal. Not me. It’s just another unintended gift of the deal. First, no more Dalen Terry. Second, no Kuminga trade.
Okoro is our franchise savior.

I would way rather have Okoro on his contract than Kuminga at $30M or whatever.

No real movement reported, but I thought it was interesting that Kuminga's preferred destination is Chicago, I always thought the rumors here were Chicago being interested in him not the other way around.Heading into Summer League play, Sacramento had seemingly shown the most interest in Kuminga among external suitors. The 22-year-old's camp had also been hopeful, sources say, about a potential sign-and-trade with Chicago, but the Bulls have their own ongoing restricted free agency dance to navigate with Giddey.
I wonder if there's some crazy outcome where we can't come to terms with Giddey, S&T him to another team, and then Kuminga gets S&T to Chicago.
Would be great for the 2026 draft pick though.
I’d want them both on the Bulls not one or the other.

Re: Kuminga sign and trade Bulls interest
As an early proponent of Kuminga, I still wouldn't be upset if they were able to bring him onboard at a reasonable contract along without giving up anything of much value.
Simply put, when you're stuck in the middle I think you need to take every swing you can on upside.
The only player I'm concerned about Kuminga taking minutes from is Noa. The group of Pat, Dalen, Phillips, and Okoro can happily sit on the bench.

I tend to agree. After watching him in SL, I would rather have more of our offense go through Matas. He's too good to be a 4th option, which is likely what would happen if we got Kuminga (unless we got rid of one of Coby or Giddey...although still a problem if Vuc is still here

In putting our best team together, I think we will have enough space/assets to bring in one more really good player...Kuminga would make that harder.

Read on the Steinline I believe that Kuminga is now looking for 25M, not that this has to change your opinion on the move any, but it is certainly more appealing at 25M than 30M.

Re: Kuminga sign and trade Bulls interest
kuminga at anything over the mle isn't particularly appealing to me, really. i think 3 years / $60 million is the most i could tolerate under the guise of "i guess even if this goes bad it won't hurt *that* much," but i just don't see why anyone would feel particularly motivated to spend big for a guy whose only skill is on-ball scoring

Fischer said that his reps HAD been hopeful about a sign and trade to Chicago. It says nothing about the Bulls actively pursuing him.

It would change the intensity of my feeling, but not the overall sentiment. I'm just not that much of a Kuminga guy, and less so after drafting Noa.

Kuminga seems like a 'me' guy and not a 'team' guy, no thanks

We have zero need for him. I don't get it. We have enough mediocre to might be good eventually types already on the roster at his spot.

Re: Kuminga sign and trade Bulls interest
Despite pwil having a bad year i would rather have him as a 3 and d role player for us than kuminga who would require more money, more shots and can’t spread the floor. I dont think kuminga plays a winning style of basketball.

Bulls need a savvy wing who could shoot and switch and guard multiple position on defense. Kuminga can’t do any of those. Kuminga is a volume shooter and puts up numbers on a bad team, ala Kyle Kuzma.
I’m also confident AK will get bamboozled into giving up at least one if not multiple FRPs in any S&T scenario.
Big NO THANKS.

Only reason I would want him is if we can somehow shed the contracts of Vuc, PWill, and maybe one of Huerter/Carter.
If it were somehow possible to do that and resign Giddey as well, then hell yeah, unleash a young team of wings with Coby chucking 3s and let em run wild

I totally agree. Call me crazy, but I'd rather have PWill than Kuminga. At least Pat is a "team" player, even if an extremely tepid one. Plus we need big bodies that play defense when the young guys (Matas, Noa) are thin. Matas/Noa/Pat could be a really good defensive frontcourt that can switch and defend the rim. Matas and Pat have shown 3pt range, but if Noa can improve there, then they can all space the floor on offense as well.
I feel like that is the vision for AKME. A frontcourt that can all play defense, block shots, switch, space the floor. Okoro and Smith kinda fit in there as well. Then you have Giddey who can run the break and set them up while the versatile frontcourt covers his defensive liabilities.
We'll see how it works out, especially with Noa, but at least I can see the vision. And it makes sense to me from a basketball perspective.
I'm hoping that AKME realizes that with Giddey, we no longer need a "center hub" like Vuc. Vuc will be traded or just expires after this season. But I also can't trust AKME at this point to do the right thing.
And then you have Coby, who I think could also work very well in this lineup, but I'd be interested to see how AKME handles the contracts of Coby and Ayo. Assuming Coby continues his year-over-year career improvements, I'd be very happy to give him something similar to Giddey (5/125).
Giddey/Jones
Coby/Ayo
Matas/Okoro
Pat/Okoro
Smith/Noa
Looks like a fun, young team that could eventually develop into a team that could make a playoff run in 2-3 years. And let's be honest, that's probably the best we can hope for.

I'm with you, although, I think that Okoro starts over Pat, with Noa fighting Pat for backup forward min.
