If there was ever a time for Derrick Rose to start recruiting, it's now. There's going to be a ton of competition for Love. Love forcing his way to Chicago is the only way to eliminate that competition.

This is as much about our guys convincing Love that we're in a winning situation. Let the FO handle the particulars later on, but our guys, namely Rose and Jo, need to be on the phone to Love right now and putting in their selling pitch.

I understand why Rose would be omitted (injuries) but all of a sudden Love and Melo are? Ok....

There is every bit of a chance that Rose is no longer a superstar, therefore having none, which we may at this point, to having 2 by bringing in Love and Melo to pair with Rose is incredibily wishful thinking.

Seriously though, your previous comment about the logic of the situation is 99% of this thing. If Love just doesn't want to freeze his butt off in the midwest anymore then no amount of affection Rose and Noah might give him will change that. Look at Dwight. The guy just didnt want to come here. I'm all for making a phone call but as was discussed in the other thread this isn't some grand plan a la MIA's big 3, its a last minute pitch. Its not going to be all that big a factor.

Call them what you want, be it superstars, allstars, stars, whatever.

It's all subjective anyway, but at the end of the day, no matter how you define them, what their flaws and strengths are etc, both are top 15 players at worst.

You are talking Cali vs CHI (weather). A healthy young star PG vs a twice injured one. Not to mention the teams have a say here as well as we are talking a sign and trade. There are a lot of factors in play here and "recruitment" is probably the least important one.

NY weather is pretty rough as well but the midwest is worse. Dwight saw a difference I wouldn't be surprised if other star players do as well.

Its fairly subjective though isnt it? If he just likes it in the Bay Area better or thinks he has a better shot with that team than what the hell is anyone going to say that is so damn convincing? I just think this whole "recruitment" thing is over-hyped since the big 3 summer. What they did was much, much more than recruitment.

I agree as well, and landing Love may narrow Melo's choice to only Chicago.
