Would you have preferred he indulged in Big Mac and Dominos? SMH!

I'd prefer that he cook his food like a normal person. Even neanderthals knew to cook their food. :)

Cooking your vegetables can deprive it of its vital nutrients, so I can really see why some people might choose to take that radical route. I can't adhere to such rigid diet, but I am in no position to judge anyone for going that way. And, neither should you. If anything, it shows a level of commitment and discipline in the young man never seen before before. People like this are usually successful.

Exactly the guy had backsurgery and it should be a concern.
He has not faced competiton in a year.
He has no real experience outside High School.

Yeah exactly, that last sentence is the most important part and the most important thing about Porter as a prospect. His 'floor' is rock bottom because he could conceivably have an injury plagued career and struggle to stay on the court. Think Derrick Rose post-2012 or Kevin White for the Bears. So in reality, talent aside, his floor is at sea level.

Ugh. Come on bro, I'm in off-season mode for football I don't want to be reading that dude's name here

He's on my mind because he just got done giving a curt, awkward interview with Adam Jahns. Not sure why the media bothers asking that guy any questions or why he answers them.

I saw that as well... he's just a prissy little b*tch. I hated that draft pick when we took him. I wanted, in order: Amari Cooper, Leonard Williams, and Vic Beasley. HATED him at the time, still hate him, but oddly enough I'm going to pull for him this year.

And he hasn't played since two season ago and he's coming off back surgery and trying to jump two levels from high school to the NBA and he's never even played in U19, only U17 AAU competition.

That's my hangup with Porter. Every player has potential, you don' know if a guy was held back from being a big producer by the coach not playing him heavy minutes or the system. When everybody sees so much upside in Porter I keep seeing Tyrus Thomas. Tyrus didn't play many games in college but even the Bulls fell in love with his athleticism, his physique, strength, how he could jump and his upside to develop. All that but he wasn't a very good basketball player and when you come down to it this isn't American Ninja it's basketball. Maybe a guy doesn't have the absolute speed, maybe his vertical isn't exceptional, maybe he doesn't do the agility drills great but when he's on the court and there's a basketball involved he knows where to run to, he gets down the lane to put the ball in the basket, he sees his teammate cutting to the basket and can pass it to him.

I've seen drafts that have the Bulls seeing Bamba, Carter, Bridges being there at #7, I think I'd be happy with any of them. I think I'd like them to have trade partners who want a specific guy and if he's there and their offer makes sense the bulls should be ready to trade down. More than that I hope they talk to teams that are willing to trade down so the Bulls have a chance to move up from 22

Tyrus was a freak athlete, one trick pony. MPJ showed more skill handling the ball, shooting off the bounce, from 3, and getting to the basket when he was in HS than Tyrus ever showed at LSU.

Carter does have great form on his jumper. A bit of a slow release but otherwise looks great. Those vids warmed me up to him a bit, certainly more than the "big to big" passing one that was posted. Outside shooting is vastly more important in today's NBA, even for a big.

Carters ability to get off the floor quickly, and repeatedly reminds me of a young Chris Webber, and he finishes with a similar tenacity. While he is obviously not the athlete that C-Webb was, it does show some athleticism that some people on this board have been denying he has.

I was also more impressed with those Carter videos than any other I’ve seen. Still left a few questions:

-His release is slow, as you said, and gone are the days when centers can expect wide open jumpers by virtue of being centers. Curious as to whether he can speed it up.

-I don’t think he has the foot speed to attack close outs. It’s easier to recover on a shooter when you can close hard without fear of a blow by. Particularly if his release is slow.

I kinda got an Ibaka vibe from those vids, in a good and bad way. His footspeed is going to be an issue it appears. Lauri appears more mobile.

According to some local reports, ours will be just as idiotic, if it makes you feel any better.

Sorry, I forget he played a few games for Mizzou recently. They were pretty forgettable though. Other than that. His last basketball played was not this last season, but two seasons ago in high school. Unless you count handful of under 17 summer league games last year and his 3 games for Missouri at the end of last college season a couple of months ago. Maybe I should have said 14 months ago.

I wasn't trying to catch you up on the Mizzou technicality... I thought you were implying that he missed time his senior year, which would've been news to me. I understand you now.

Not in NCAA. Does Missouri and Wash State high school ball really matter today? Seems like another lifetime ago for Bagley and Ayton.

He fails to see the guy stood still while his competition had a chance to grow. He is has not competed in a year coming off of a serious injury.
