I do like his moxie, and he very likely is underrated as a playmaker. He's also only a couple of weeks older than LaVine so the timeline would work. And his outside shooting - capable from very deep - would likely have the same positive impact that Coby's does on the team - opening things up more than you'd expect.

The abysmal inside finishing ability is still a big concern, but when using Vuc inside it's not like there's a ton of space to operate there. On the other hand, when Vuc swings out... Still, despite being terrible at finishing inside, 2 seasons ago he managed to draw almost 3.7 FTA per game (not great, but not nothing).

I do think that the Bulls have some options this offseason that are appealing. The big question, though, is would it be better to roll over cap space until next season and a bigger FA crop as well as an actual first to use to bring in someone. The Vuc trade should be a lesson-learned in not doing something "too early" just to do something big.

While I don't hate the Vuc trade as much as many on the board (mainly due to the declining contract which makes adding someone next year more possible), it was on overpay. A 2-year younger Valenciunas brought back only 1 first round pick, and it was top 10 protected (imagine if the picks they sent to Orlando were top 10, rather than top 4, protected....). I think the Vuc package could have netted the significantly better (and also younger) Siakam this offseason.

Vuc is quite a bit better than Val. Siakam is getting paid 35M per year.

Vuc is quite a bit better than Val. Siakam is getting paid 35M per year.

On Siakam, he's getting paid 31.3M next season, not 35. Then 33.6, then 36. He's quasi first option in TO due to Lowry aging and VanVleet being good but not great offensively. He'd be back to a more clear 2nd option in Chicago.

Siakam is a 27 year old legitimate 2 way player who, while better as your #2 or #3 offensive option, still gives 21-22 ppg, 7-8 rbp, 4-5 apg, 5-6 FTA, even if his efficiency has dropped to 55% from 63% 2 years ago as a 3rd option behind Leonard and Lowry (and scoring more than Lowry).

As to the centers, I'm not sure how much better Vuc is than Val. Better, sure, but comparing their respective age 28 seasons (Jonas from last year, Vuc from 3 years ago):

https://stathead.com/basketball/pcm_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=0&player_id1=vucevni01&p1yrfrom=2019&player_id2=valanjo01&p2yrfrom=2021

or just comparing last season...

https://stathead.com/basketball/pcm_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=0&player_id1=valanjo01&p1yrfrom=2021&player_id2=vucevni01&p2yrfrom=2021

or comparing 2 seasons ago from both:

https://stathead.com/basketball/pcm_finder.cgi?request=1&sum=0&player_id1=valanjo01&p1yrfrom=2020&player_id2=vucevni01&p2yrfrom=2020

They are much closer statistically than one might think. Similar rebounders, both can shoot but Vuc does it much more. Val more efficient inside. Vuc's a significantly better passer, but we're talking the difference between 4 and 2 assists per game. Val gives you a little more in terms of blocked shots... And Val is two years younger.

Vuc is better, but not double the first round picks with less protection better. Granted, it was a bad trade for Memphis (maybe they don't think they can pay Val what he will get on the market next season).

Dennis Schroder turned down a four-year, $84 million extension from the Lakers this winter and is an unrestricted free agent. And he could have options. Bulls coach Billy Donovan had success with Schroder in Oklahoma City and is believed to be interested in a possible reunion.

Satoransky and Aminu for Bledsoe & Lakers 2022 1st Round Pick.

It'd save the Bulls $2M to go towards free agency while also helping them recoup some of the lost draft capital from the Vuc trade.

Hmm... a real mixed bag, but it's a realistic trade HomoSapien. I actually like Bledsoe-- he used to be an elite factor on both ends of the floor, and it's possible that he could recover his former glory in the right system, with the right coach. That said, Bledsoe looked pretty ineffective last year. We'd spend $37 million over two years on a guy who is a major risk-- obvious injury issues, and the very real possibility that this dude may have already hit the downhill part of his career at a bobsled's pace. The sweeteners are a bit mild for my taste, given the risk in question. So... how valuable is the Lakers' 2022 1st rounder? Even if it is unprotected or minimally protected, the Lakers are going to be a force in the West. It's no lotto pick. And I'm glad that we get to dump Aminu, but how valuable is dumping Aminu anyway, when he is on an expiring contract, and every dollar that was going to Aminu is now just spent on Bledsoe instead? If Bledsoe recovers his value, that would be a major win for us. If Bledsoe tanks with us, though, the downside is fairly steep too-- we may be forced to remain above the cap during next year's free agency-- a period that's going to be stacked with excellent options.

5 years, 150? That would be nuts. Unless its one of those 5 year 150 on paper, but really 3 year 75M deals... (or even really just a 1 year 25M carry over cap space until following season deals).

The Schröder rumors are terrifying me as much as the "trade up for Wiseman" rumors last year at this point.

I just hope it’s all bs in the end again.

This would be one of those moves that would have me questioning if it's worth staying a Bulls fan. He played well off the bench for Donovan, so you'd have to hope that Billy is confident that as a starter he could be an easy 20 and 7 guy.

AKME seem to keep their moves close to the vest. I'm expecting them to go after someone none of us have really have on our radars.

Then again, Schroder is someone most of us don't have on our radars so...

The Boston Celtics acquired Fournier from the Orlando Magic in March. He’ll become an unrestricted free agent. The French guard, who helped his native country upset the U.S. in the Olympics earlier this week, is expected to ask for around $18 million per season, while Dinwiddie’s asking price is $25 million per, sources say.

That is a 5/150 million dollar offer, which the Bulls can’t even legally offer.

Agents are pumping up salary discussions... but we'll see what actually happens. Players can want all that they want, but whether it happens or not... different question. I was surprised by several of the deals last season, but many are coming to bite people in the behind and things tend to be cyclical.

Look at Al Horford getting the surprise deal a couple of years back... and then an asset being spent to trade him away. Look at no one willing to give up even a 2nd round pick for Andre Drummond. Not sure that the money will be flowing nearly as loosely as players and agents hope it will be.

To be fair, it just says mutual interest in him signing a 5/150 deal...didn't say it was WITH THE BULLS. Heck I'm happy too if he signs that with the Lakers!

Look at the MLE level signings of Harrell, Ibaka... Clarkson at 11.5M. Jerami Grant got 20M per year. So did Gallinari. Bogs got 18M per year.

The biggest signings were Hayward where the Hornets had to overpay to land him (30M per year, which they'll likely regret in the longer run but they had the space and young team)... the max to Ingram (overpay but needed to keep him) and the max to keep Davis.

FVV got 21.25 per year... just because a Schoeder or whomever wants to get paid significantly more doesn't mean it will actually happen. This past offseason may have been atypical, but there isn't nearly as much money out there as people (agents/players) think that there is.

Anyway, if players' expectations are this unrealistic, that's one more reason to operate over the cap.

I keep coming back to the $18.7M figure we can reach in cap space by:

Not picking up the option on Arcidiacano
Stretching Aminu
Trading Sato for pure cap space
Renouncing all free agents except for Theis

Is the best use of $18.7M to put it all towards one player like Ball?

Is $18.7 enough to get both Nunn and Bullock? Or some other combination of 2 players?

What would you do with $18.7M in cap space and a roster of:

White/
LaVine/Brown
Williams
Theis/Young
Vucevic/Theis/Simonivic

Never heard of the page until now, but all he did was post a rumor from Yahoo Sports. And he stole it without even providing a link to the actual story.

He just posted this 3 hours ago:

"Lonzo Ball will likely sign an offer sheet with the Chicago Bulls, per multiple insiders around the league.
Adrian Wojnarowski confirms the strong mutual interest between the two groups.
Pelicans can match the offer sheet after trading away Eric Bledsoe and Steven Adams. In order to create money for Ball, the Bulls will have to trade Tomas Satoransky and Thaddeus Young."

A - he needs to make up his mind
B - the bolded simply isn't true

In fact, I don't see any mention of Haynes saying this anywhere on Yahoo Sports, and it doesn't appear on his Twitter feed. It almost seems made up.
