People say the same thing about Scottie Barnes.

Barnes has never shown the lack of understanding social cues. Or at least I've never seen it. Pat is different.

I'm do not understand but i'm aware they exist.

Pat complete lack of natural reaction in most situations are a sign.

Scottie never has shown anything at that level that I have seen.

Pat has behave awkwardly for 5 seasons. He never seems to get it.

Meh on Pat's mental state being abnormal for a young guy who has battled through multiple injuries and moved to bench from starting role.

We can’t blame anything for Pat’s passive mentality anymore except Pat. All external factors have been removed.

He seemingly can't process the game at the speed it requires. If he were to just start "being aggressive" we'd end up with Julius Randle.
Send him to the G-league and see if he can increase his game processing speed against scrubs.

We'd be so lucky if he just started being aggressive and became Julius Randle. If only it were that easy.

We've seen what he looks like when he tries to be aggressive, it's a lot of missed dunks, blown layups, airballs, travels, getting blocked, getting stripped, dribbling off his leg, stepping out of bounds, falling over, and getting bullied.

Occasionally he'll do something nice, but it's few and far between.

I've always thought something was off with him mentally. A few years ago they tried to feature him in a Bulls commercial and watching him was like watching Rainman read a script. No smile, no emotion, no enthusiasm. I always thought, WTF is wrong with this dude?!?!

Easily one of my, if not the, most disliked Bull of all time.

Yeah it is nuanced.

Rose was more intense and stoic. No-nonsense.
Pat is just strange. If feels like if a teammate hits a game winning shot, Pat would be like (In a Sheldon Cooper voice): "Oh, I guess we won this sporting game. I wonder what mom made for dinner tonight. It is Tuesday, that should be make-your-own taco night. Tuesdays are always make-your-own taco night".

I'm telling you, Pat is on the spectrum.

What we see is what he is.

They never change measurements or weights in the NBA after they get drafted or signed lol

He needs to lose 20 lbs. That extra bulk is not doing him any good.z

If he started 236 he’s even heavier now.

He needs to get lean. 210ish. His shot even looks heavy! All his misses are short. No legs.

I think he started at 215.

FSU's athletics page has Pat at 225lbs.

On 247sports he's 215lbs.

It is just so hard given that he looked like a future player as a rookie. I still remember him getting the ball of a drive and dish, taking a dribble or two up, and sinking mid-range shots calmly. Then getting back on D and being competitive. Don’t know what happened to that guy.

Pat seems very normal in this video and the dude looks lean.

I’m puzzled on both accounts.

He does look lean. And he just had a good game. Both of which are good; he came in with a lot of promise and seems like a good young man, and with that contract he is with the Bulls for the long haul. No one is trading for him given production / progression (regression) at this point.

Hopefully he can at least get back to what he looked like as a rookie. If he can be the 3rd forward and provide a solid 3&D player, maybe 3&D+, then that will be big for the team. And with Giddey and Matas, the pressure on him to bang and rebound is a lot less; maybe that will help him.

Yes, Patrick looked alright yesterday. I've ripped the guy plenty over the years, so it's only fair that I credit him when he plays well.

What's always driven me crazy about Pat is that about every three game he actually makes a nice, proactive play on offense that demonstrates why he was drafted 4th. He's been doing this since he came in the league. And I always think to myself, "if he can just start to do that a little more often, he'll probably be alright as a player."

And I do mean "a little more often". Like once a game. If he could just figure out how to do that and remove the bonehead plays, he'd actually be a really nice player. Worthy of his contract.

But in year 5 nothing has gotten better. He still makes the occasional nice drive where he adeptly uses his body to bully his way to the rim, but it's interspersed with lackadasaical play and 3x more unforced errors.

I feel naive writing this, but I still have hope for Pat. He deserves the criticism he got this year......but he's not this bad as an NBA player. There's no reason he can't at least be the solid 3&D guy he was his first 4 years in the league. And MAYBE a little more than that, but that seems overly optimistic at this point.

I think he will be fine next year. Injuries and no summer hurt him with the foot. He is very critical of himself (interviews he has shared).

Like you said he needs to eliminate the dribbling turnovers and makes 3s. That’s it. His D always plays with his size.

I think he will get there next season. 11 4 3 player on 40% 3s would be a helpful but overpaid player. Hope he gets enough value to be traded in a salary dump.
