I'd highly recommend just going to the US Embassy and getting a new passport. Are you over 18 years of age? What is the nature of this guardianship?
Brother, I'm sorry to say this, but it seems like your parents are just as much to blame as the school staff. Just to be clear, you want to leave an oppressive situation, and you are an adult US Citizen, and your parents' response is to threaten you that that will attempt to get you in trouble with the law because you may have smoked herb at some point in the past?
ChiCitySPORTS#1 wrote:wtf is wrong with your parents? and i don't think them showing the embassy a text about you admitting to smoking weed would do ****. if this situation is even real (not sure what i believe), then contact the freaking embassy already.

Your parents....wow.

Hit them up for an airplane ticket on Easter, and then just leave.

Not sure your age, someone asked, are you 18?
2) Above may depend on guardian status. Does your dad saying he's not your guardian make him legally not your guardian? I don't see how. Was he ever "legally" and "officially" your guardian? If not, again, he is in possession of your personal property, contact the police. If he is your legal guardian, can he keep your passport from you legally? Seems unlikely.

I don't know what country you're in, but I would think that in any free country, an educational institution doesn't have the authority to forcefully stop you from leaving.
If you are not in a free country, then perhaps it's best to just comply until you can leave safely. April 12th is less than 2 weeks away, after all.

You should leave as soon as it's safe to do so, IMO. Your parents are horrid people. And this is just my assumption, but there's religion controlling a lot of this, right? Your parents' decisions, and the rules of the country/school you're in?
GET. OUT.

Problem is that the institution won't let me. My only option now is to leave April 12 and run straight to the embassy.Space Indaver wrote:What kind of school has security to stop students getting out at the request of their parents?

Even if the parents ask, the institution won't allow people to leave unless it's a medical emergency but the institution has a hospital onsite... I wish I could take pictures but there's cameras everywhere.
Yeah grandparents called, threatened me saying I dont have the right to come back to the us apparently and to start a barber shop here... I said they are they are keeping me hostage, they said no but they have people to kidnap me, they just have to say the word...
How can I convince the US embassy I'm telling the
truth? My parents threatened me to tell the the US embassy that I am fine here and to retract my statement of being suicidal. The embassy will think I'm crazy or lying to them now.
I have the phone calls recorded but unsure of the legality, I told them its being recorded.

Your grandparents are violent criminals and should be in jail. When you get out, if they are American, you should report them to the authorities. How can I convince the US embassy I'm telling the

You don't need to convince the Embassy of anything such as a state of mind. All you have to do is tell them that you need a new passport because your "guardians" (it's unclear to me if that has any legal meaning whatsoever) won't give it to you. The Embassy is there to help YOU. If the guardians don't give you the passport, the Embassy will. If they do give you the passport, leave ASAP.
I would strongly suggest not going to the police wherever you are. That is likely to complicate and possibly make your situation much more difficult.
All I can say is that I'm sorry for your difficulties. Hopefully your family will come around in time, because as of now they are frankly just evil. Your parents and your grandparents for threatening you. You are an adult U.S. citizen and as such, you can do mostly whatever the **** you want. If your parents cut you off financially, you're in the same position as countless other 19 year olds. You can easily still go to a good college with stafford loans.
But I'd bet that once you're out of that situation and back in the U.S., your parents will change their tone quite a bit. It's highly likely that your dad is panicking and making a major mistake due almost entirely to how he thinks it will make the family look if you leave. I'm familiar with this dynamic. A lot of Americans can't understand, but my wife is a foreigner and I understand what it's like for people who are attached to cultures where everyone is always judging each other and giving a **** about what everyone does. What I'm saying is that once the "damage" is done to your family's reputation by you leaving, your dad has nothing to be scared of anymore and might treat you how he he should have all along.
Stay up brother.
