I think the Gasol thing was just to complete a promise to Melo. Honestly, where is he going to get his minutes. As a 6th man? Would he take that?

Many of us didn't think he was coming from day one. It's been a pipedream from the start. It's not easy to walk away from that much money. It's not just Melo, winning is secondary or at least the same level as money for most of these guys.

I don't think Melo coming to Chicago was a pipedream. There was a lot of "evidence" that he might, like Melo saying he cared more about winning than the money, Melo asking about Thibs, and Noah recruiting Melo. Honestly there's still a chance he comes to Chicago, it's just not very large.

Bulls negotiating w Mirotic could easily be determining what he'll take to sign and if he'll resist to go to NY/LA. Could be a facilitation for Melo S&T. Hell, Bulls can make it VERY easy on Knicks in a 3-way.

To Bulls: Melo, JR Smith.
To 3d party: Boozer, either Mirotic or picks
To Knicks: Mirotic or picks, MDJ, Snell.

Knicks actually cut salary for 2014 and 2015 and get assets for future. 3d party takes Booz and gets an asset for future. If it's LA, it even fits because Booz helps them this yr, Randle/Mirotic take over in 2015 as potential frontcourt.

In a sense....yes. The point of the Knicks being a woman with huge muscles is....if she flexes her muscles it's pretty disgusting and would make me throw up.

Is it jut me or is Melo in a lose lose situation if he goes back to NY.

Lets say he takes less money so they can better build the team. Why not go to Chicago that already has a team pretty perfectly constructed for you? Rather then taking Phil's word that he can make it happen some day. :crazy:

And if he takes the max, then he's handicapping the team and he will be harshly blamed by the masses when the time comes to get other players around him...

On another note. Wth are the Knicks going to get anyway? Lebron won't be available. Durant is a terrible idea all together with Melo, and he's won't be available either anyway. What is Phil's ultimate plan?

What Melo needs to understand is if he gets a ring, he will probably make more money post career than without a ring. He also will need to deal with the Bulls, Pacers, Heat and possibly the Wizards and Cavs going forward. The Knicks have a lot of issues and Derek Fisher is unproven. If he came to the Bulls he really just needs to worry about the Heat but will have a good chance to beat them.
