Exactly who Im seeing as well. Big guard/SF who can fill it up.

I can't seem to get the Trevor Ariza comps out of my head.

Super valuable player for sure, but not franchise changing.

After all, general consensus seems to be that LaVine will not develop at all, maybe just catch up to where he was before tearing his ACL ;)

I don't know where this belief came from that players don't develop after age 23. For decades, players didn't even enter the NBA until they were 22. It's really a ridiculous concept. Good players work on their games every off season and add or refine skills throughout their careers. I wouldn't worry one bit about LaVine or Bridges improving every year.

At this point he could go top 5. He won't be there at 9, that I am sure of. I watched the Villanova-Alabama game. I gotta say, I love the way Villanova plays. Their team defense is so outstanding. And you could really see in the 2nd half how Brunson just makes that team run like a clock. His ability to dribble in traffic into the paint and kick out is outstanding. He had zero turnovers today. Instead of taking Young or Sexton with our own pick I think we should take Carter if he's available or Mitchell Robinson. Then maybe pick up Brunson with our Pelicans pick if its at 20 or higher. Brunson doesn't have a gaudy game. But he's a winner. He's ready to play on the second squad right away. He's what a point guard used to be. A facilitator for his teammates. He can also shoot from the outside well enough to keep defenses honest. I thought he outplayed Sexton to tell the truth.

Maybe at the offensive end but Mo Pete was no where near the defensive player Bridges is. Bridges will be average a couple of steals and block a game plus guard the other team best wing player.

Not much difference defensively. I love Bridges length and lateral quickness, but he pales in comparison to young small forwards like Brandon Ingram in terms of elite length defensively for the 3, but most of all he isn't physically imposing for the 3. I think he'd be more effective at the 2 where his length can be a real advantage defensively.

He's 6'7, 7'0 wingspan, above average athletically and has excellent lateral quickness. He can play the 3 in the NBA.

I agree. Which is why it is a shame we've won some meaningless games lately. Unless we win the lottery he's not going to be there when we pick. He's a perfect fit for our team. But he might go top 5 at this point.

He can, but better suited as a 2 right now defensively imo. Needs to get much stronger, isn't a great rebounder. Morris Peterson type.

bridges's offense that game was almost entirely hinged on spot-up three pointers. if a team takes him in the top five they're making a mistake and pushing a higher-potential player closer to our pick

If Bridges goes top 5, I'd be ecstatic. That would mean one of the top 7 game changers fail to us.

He's already done that unless we get back to #8 at minimum. Probably need to be top 7.

At #9 the guy who is getting "pushed down" is inevitable bust and completely wasted pick, Trae Young. Hopefully Paxson has the balls to pass on him when he's sitting there on the board.

Yeah I still think we're in range to grab someone nice. This tournament will make lessor known names climb up the rankings. Who knows how teams ahead of us will draft

My general observations on Gar/Pax drafting:

1) Drafting BPA works out well, drafting for need doesn't for them. So if there is a PG, SG or PF who is BPA, please take him!

2) I will hate their pick...no matter who it is.

3) I will most likely be wrong in my assessment.

Ok now let's get a good look at Carter for this Duke game. I think our decision will ultimately be between Carter, Miles Bridges or Sexton at #9

TheHrvReport wrote:I'm a Mikal Bridges fan but think I'd take Trae just because of the potential. You don't go blatantly trying to tank all season to come away with a safe 3 and D pick.

You also don't tank all year to pick an offense-only player whose offense won't translate and who has zero defensive tools or upside, just because it might excite some dreamers, get you a couple of TNT games, and sell some extra tickets.

Why do you need to be that much stronger at the 3? Ariza plays the 3 and he's a twig. They have similar games

it's kind of interesting how fluid the top of the draft is still. other than ayton/doncic, is there anyone you'd be absolutely stunned to see fall out of the top 5? and even doncic dropping wouldn't be bonkers

I kind of feel like JJJ and Bagley are pretty well locked into top 5 as well.

Thestepien did a great article on that comp and how Mikal is much better at the rim and of course on d. I think their games are similar. Good comp.
