Re: NBA Draft 2018 6.0: Lucky #7 and 22.
Explain Knox to me as a top ten pick? A wing who is not proficient at shooting or defense? What exactly is the plan there? What does he bring to a roster? He is by no means a bad player. But I dont see anything special in his game.
Porter’s upside has grown on me. I still don’t think you can take him top ten with the bad back. Too much of basketball relies on flexibilty, core strength, and fluidity. And a bad back screws that all up. Outside the top ten? Sure, roll the dice.
Guys like Wendall Carter and Miles Bridges fall in draft season.. because they are merely basketball players who contribute on both ends. And draft season devotes the headlines towards the physical outliers and lotto ticket type guys. Like, sure Knox might become a do it all forward, but he hasnt been. Sure Mo Bamba might start draining threes but he hasnt. Give me a young guy that has good measurables and very good tape. Carter and Bridges are going to be really solid nba players, even as niether will challenge to make an all ba first team. Porter has a higher chance at all nba.. as well as a higher chance to be out of the league by his second contract.
I do like Bamba... just think his hype as a shooter is unwarranted.

I can't wait for Thursday, just like everyone here. I have a feeling MPJ is going to be the pick at 7.
Actually, I'm guessing we are over a 1000 pages at this point (I'm confident we were at least at the 8th thread around the time of the lottery). A big part of what makes this board great, imo.

The last guy coming from EU to the NBA being that good and young was Drazen Petrovic. And i think Luka is even younger than Drazen was. That's why there is so much chatter about him. I am not saying he will be as good as him but just so you understand why so much talk

Dry sarcasm doesn't work online; one would think Givony knows that being a social media guy.
When you have to explain a joke online, then it just ruins it. I grasped the sarcasm in the post right away due to the history of players stock rising due to one on none work outs. And yet, seemingly many teams will probably make the same mistakes once more.
And have you seen Givony interview prospects over the years? He is the most dry interviewer I know. He has zero personality, and bores me to death and seemingly bores the prospects to death as well.
Why so serious?

This is what I don’t understand about the Pro-Doncic crowd (I honestly assume most of them currently live over in Europe and support their own) is that to me at least, I wouldn’t be happy drafting Drazen Petrovic with our pick. Sure, he could’ve had a special career had it not been cut short but what he showed was okay but not “franchise player” to me and not someone I would want to take in the top of the draft. He was drafted in the 3rd round back in the day too, not a top 10 draft pick.

Before you guys start complaing about the draft process dragging. The FIRST pick in the NBA DRAFT will be awarded 5 minutes to make a selection.

Ayton & Booker should be pretty good.
Doncic, Hield, WCF & Fox. Looks they'll be getting another top 5 guy the following season.
Sacramento does not have their pick next season. I think.

Ok fair enough, but have you seen Drazen play? Michael Jordan had problems with him, he respects him a lot. Reggie Miller said he was one of the toughest player he ever guarded. And Reggie was not a bad defender. All in all Drazen somehow became a legend in those short years for what he has done. He was incredibly gifted and just knew how to score and make plays. Again i am not saying Luka will be as good, it is just an example how productive Doncic is already at 19yo in his own way. If his skill translates to the NBA? We'll see about that.

Denzel's going to be good, Portis is going to be even better. Nwaba was GREAT pick up & they may have even been right about Cameron Payne, who showed admirable signs in Fred's system. Lauri is going to be legend.
I trust Paxson & co. when it comes to draft picks. I expect the 22nd pick to be an excellent selection as well.
Seriously? Drafted
2013 Tony Snell
2012 Marquis Teague
2010 Kevin Seraphin and traded him and Hinrich for a trade exemption
2009 James Johnson took 5 years before he was anything for other teams
2007 Aaron Gray 2nd round
They make mistakes and let's not even go into trades for Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden or FA signings that were awful

Then, I'll get even more sick reading people defending the pick while all this is going on and saying we are like the 76ers and it's actually "good that he is missing most of his rookie year". Cause we all know it's coming.... right?
Atleast he has upside. What would you rather have wasted a year for Mikal Bridges lol

Yeah, Givony was making a joke about evaluating players in an empty gym rather than in games. Also, that night, Luka came out and dominated and did it all. He will surely win player of the tourney after they clinch. He dominated with 20, 9 and 3 last night in 24 Mins.

Re: NBA Draft 2018 6.0: Lucky #7 and 22.
Hmm I remember when Lauri Markkanen was tearing it up at Eurobasket.
19.5 ppg on 54% overall FG, 47.8% from 3, 89.7% FT.
Everyone said "it's just Euro, it doesn't mean he'll be a star in the League."
Doncic performed well, but overall less impressively than Lauri,
14.3 ppg on 40.6% FG, 31.1% 3P, 84.8% FT.
I think there's plenty to poke holes at for Doncic as a top 2 pick. Including a less than average points per possession in isolation for an on-ball creator.
But can't see him dropping past 4...I think Memphis is crazy if they pass on him there.

Wow. This is ridiculous. Drazen would go top 5 in hindsight in any draft of the last decade.
