Re: NBA games postponed today
I forgive sinners as long as they seek forgiveness and redemption themselves. Everyone deserves a second chance.

Were those four children his path to redemption? Was his reaching for "something" in his car after resisting arrest a lapse in judgement, when he probably should've set a better example for those children?
There was an incident on a Pennsylvania highway a few years ago in which two LEOs allowed a man who, after resisting arrest, reached into his car, procured a handgun, and proceeded to shoot them down.
When survival is the number one priority taught in present-day LEO training, I don't think the Kenosha LEOs, in real-time, were thinking, as Mr. Blake reached into his car, "What would this look like on the news if I didn't take the risk and shot this man?"

What "injustice" was done?
There hasn't even been a full investigation yet.

Re: NBA games postponed today
People who are asking if this is going to shift the opinion of a racist are missing the point of this completely. You're not going to change someone who is stuck in their evil. You may, however, strike a nerve with the apolitical person that doesn't normally vote but also doesn't condone racist. The players are also bringing a tremendous amount of attention to the story of Jacob Blake. I'm curious to see what our president says about this tonight.

I'm sure all 12 fans who are still watching the NBA are devastated by this news. Watching the sport commit suicide over the past few months has been pretty incredible.

Strongly disagree.
The facts that have been released thus far about the Blake incident don't fit an injustice narrative.
Are you reading what I wrote?
I am talking about due process.
Have you thought about the consequences of a bullet ricocheting inside a closed car with 2 kids in the back?
None of this is standard procedure. Cops are not plantation foremen. I know that's what they used to be.
They are not in 2020.
What is standard procedure in this situation?

The injustice that Blake is not in a jail cell awaiting trial and with a lawyer representing him.
Instead we now have him with a severed spine in a hospital.

So I guess we're in the head-counting phase of the revolution.

Re: NBA games postponed today
The correct due process for Mr. Blake should've been to allow himself to be apprehended, lawyer up, and attempt to win in court. There are a lot of kindhearted activist lawyers with good intentions who would've gladly taken his case.
He shortcutted this process by resisting arrest and reaching for "something" in his car.

If you're asking me then you've either not watched the video or you are just trolling.
Standard procedure should always be to assess risk and detain.
There were THEEE cops.
The level of incompetence they displayed in not assessing the danger first and then over-reacting to compensate ...is hilariously tragic.

OMG...please stop talking about the law.
Due process is for Cops.
Citizens have to abide. And they have to follow rules.
I dont expect to get shot if I willingly break a rule.
Scratch that...I am brown. I know I will get shot.

I've watched two different videos and listened to the police scanner.

Young kids in Antioch , IL...start believing this kind of rhetoric. And think that they are fighting the Crusade...the Last Stand of Civilization.
Dont spout venom. No ones coming for anyone's head.
You know why protesters target Federal buildings and property? They want to show symbolic rage.

Why is he not in a jail cell?

I was being sarcastic.
I DON'T want escalation.
But it seems that's the only thing people are interested in.

I commend the players for standing up and putting money where their wallet is. I just hope they stick with it when things get tough. I just hope this brings awareness but hope this brings reform and not destruction.
I will say in terms of NBA and ratings they are down 20%. I hope when NBA comes back there will be a better quality product then trying to injure players and still being a divide.
Keep up the fight. Maybe they will gain some new fans or lose them as long as they are aware of that.

It feels necessary to post Doc Rivers' emotional speech here. Worth watching for anyone who hasn't.

I think you begin counting where escalation BEGINS and ENDS very differently than the rest of the world.
Not just you.
40 percent of the country does. There is a massive disconnect.
We are back to talking about rap sheets and violent protesters.
That's NOT where the escalation started.

I'm not a cop. I don't know what procedure is. Maybe their training sucked. There are absolutely bad cops out there.
But there hasn't been a full investigation, and we haven't seen the full video.
It seems they were trying to arrest him, and he resisted.

The problem is that no one in this league wants to address the far more severe atrocities in China, one of their largest financiers. There is a blatant consistency problem within the league.
