Re: Around The NBA : 21-22 Edition
Dudes I brought up Rubio just the other day .
He would a clear upgrade to what this team actually needs .
A guy to run the run the offense and play the position at an elite level . Heck just even good enough to push Zach off the ball.
Instead we running out offensively inept whoever and Caruso . Geez .
If you wanted a defensive pointguard then get Shaq Harrison .

Holy overreaction, what a post. Sure, let’s replace Caruso with Harrison and see how that goes!

TBH though I’ve liked getting Rubio for years. You don’t need Ball and Rubio but for the past 2 years both guys have been on the potential wishlist of players. Ball fits this team a little better timeline wise, but I would have been fine getting Rubio too.

Just not sure what he will have left in the tank at that point. You are looking at a Jordan Wizards situation, where he surely won’t be a bad player, just won’t be able dominate as he once did night in and night out. I’m not sure any of the young players would want to team up with him either at that point. The generation that would is also aging.
The Cleveland idea is interesting though as how they are currently constructed LeBron could come in and be their wing.

Mobley is the real deal. He makes them a contender sometime soon. An immediate high impact rookie like Zion and Luka…
They also seemed to be the only wise team interested in paying a potato chip for Rubio. A very good NBA pg consistently thrown into the worst NBA situations possible.
On the other hand, they’ve locked up their cap on guys like Lauri, Allen, still stuck with Love… Sexton decision incoming. For all the flack he gets, he’s a high scorer.

Re: Around The NBA : 21-22 Edition
Rubio was definitely one of the PGs a lot of us discussed getting here, along w/ Lonzo. Would have also been a good move.
But Rubio in Chicago wouldn't be as productive as he is in Cleveland.
1. Rubio wouldn't have roll targets to pass to in Allen & Mobley. He'd have Vuc...who more often misses than not. So assists are a lot lower.
2. Rubio wouldn't be shooting nearly as much in CHI as in CLE with Lavine & Derozan. So ppg would be lower.
So Rubio's stats in CHI would be considerably lower, and I don't think he's half the defender Lonzo is.

Plus we needed to invest in some young prime guys. Lonzo’s upside makes much more sense.

Embiid entering COVID protocols as well. With their COVID situation getting kinda out of control again, definitely not the best time to play them twice in 3 days.

I think those losses are more important than just beating tomato cans. That false sense of confidence will do us nothing come playoff time. We need to see the adversity and learn to overcome it to improve. The Bulls need to see Embiid and figure out a way to not suck. The last game was worse than the first but in the first loss they actually came back and had that DDR block been called a foul, momentum might have favored the Bulls. Still loses are only loses if you are a loser team. To a winning team they are just lessons in how to properly do your job.

As constructed Cleveland has some issues for sure, but they have a good bag of assets to trade. A couple moves and this team looks fairly legit. What’s nice for them is their window is pretty long at this point. Garland, Sexton, Allen, Lauri, Okoro can all be mixed in matched in any trade to build around Mobley. They also will still end up with another lottery pick this year too. A pick and any two of those players (maybe another future pick too) ends up being a decent package for a player. As a pure hypothetical… say Ingram becomes available becAuse NOP are crazy. You can throw some package at them with all types of salary matching options and potentially have something like Rubio, Garland, Ingram, Lauri, Mobley. (I just traded Allen and sexton in this false scenario but you get the idea)
I think with Mobley it gets easier to build the team now… you know who you are building around and you can make moves based off of that. They need to because it is surely a weird collection of talent right now but at least they have a few players to trade.

Man Simmos for Brown might make some sense. Tatum and Brown can’t coexist it seems nor can Joel and Ben…. I’m wary if I am Boston though, for Philly at this point that is a no brainer.

Simmons and Tatum and Embiid and Brown are fantastic 2 man situations for both teams...
It means Marcus Smart stands in the corner some more though hmmm.

If that happens, Sixers are going to have to give up several other assets, like first round picks in order for that deal to happen. And IF it does happen, Sixers are going to be dangerous.
Why so serious?

TBH I think they need to move Smart too if they do this. Having Smart and Ben out there is not a good look offensively. Smart might be more willing to chuck up a 3 than Ben but it isn't the best choice. Looks like Boston is initiating this though, so they must think that Brown and Tatum will not work. Maybe that Marcus Smart comments represent more than just his opinion in that locker room.

Remember when some here were talking about how MPJ was the real deal and his back issues were oversold?
