My point is - little QBs are not the move. They're dropping back and being chased by the biggest and best athletes in the world and don't hold up over time.

Brees held up fine. There's a bunch of short QBs in NFL history.

Plus Kyler went out with a non contact injury so don't know how you tie that to his size.

Brees played in a different era.

Murray hasn't really been awesome in the NFL. The case for Murray is that his excellent acceleration and speed are keys to keeping himself alive in the pocket despite his lack of size, I don't think Young is quite that type of athlete that Murray is (know who is though but also is bigger and stronger?).

Whatever you think of his play - Fields has shown a LOT in his season here. Moving on from his now for Young would put so much pressure on Poles and Young that it just would be crazy to do. Fields has the much, much higher ceiling and he has the support of the locker room in a really, really good way right now. It's just so risky.

Fields was one of the best runners in NFL history for the position.

But he was also probably the worst throwing QB in the league beside the absolute chaffe QBs and Zach Wilson.

i don't give a crap about the first round draft slot of potential trading partners. if brady leaves tampa and they want to trade up with us, fine. that just means they'll have to add more to the package than, for example, the raiders at #7. hell, it's not even necessary to get a 2022 first rounder as part of the exchange

speaking of the raiders, i saw someone on twitter suggest a first round pick swap for davante adams. i think we can do significantly better

know what the best thing that can happen now is? between the combine, private workouts and interviews, a wider gap opens between bryce young and the alternate QB choices

Bears Talk 6.0: Historic 2023 off season, No 1 pick & most CAP space + pre & regular season

Post#43 » by MalagaBulls » Sun Jan 8, 2023 11:32 pm

Last 2 if they fit, we will probably need a new thread with so much going on but this is historically good based on a terrible season.

1. New CEO/President incoming
2. 1OA pick to get a haul.
3. Historic FA
4. Historic draft

Can you imagine being a HOU fan right now? Davis Mills will get run out of town on a rail. Unreal. When the Bears game ended HOU was down 8 with 1:34 to go.

About the game today- Velus Jones has an impact for the 3rd week in a row. That's really nice to see. Pettis with 2 more drops, sealed his fate I believe. They did target CLaypool a bit more, and he was open on a deep route but the ball was underthrown and picked up. But he was behind the defender and it should have been a big gain.

Not really much else to comment on- the defense once again was like a sieve. At one point MIN had run 20 plays and picked up 10 first downs.

One other point on the game- Bears did only give up 1 sack. MIN probably was not blitzing much, but still, our QB's did get rid of the ball when they needed to instead of waiting to make a play and getting sacked.

if that colts defender who let that final TD go through his hands ever needs a job, the bears should give him an honorary roster slot

The added demand from having more teams than usual looking to change QBs, plus there being a consensus #1 QB worthy of the overall #1, is going to really juice up the offers. I would be shocked if Poles doesn't get a GIGANTIC haul.

What a beautifully timed tank.

Denver holds on - Indy sneaks into the 4th slot.

Houston, Indy, Seattle, Detroit, Vegas, Atlanta and Carolina all could be looking at getting a QB.

Trading for Claypool was a huuuge mistake that number 32 pick in the draft!

Yeah, he ran right around him- hardly even was slowed down. They did pressure our QB's today, but only got 1 sack out of it. Justin needs to learn from that- you just have to throw the ball away sometimes.

Also, on that one deep ball to Velus, the ball was underthrown by Peterman- maybe it was a back shoulder throw. But that's a prime example of a receiver not being open but the QB throwing the ball anyway, giving him a chance to make a play, which he did. Another thing Justin needs to learn how to do.

Trade it for multiple picks? Trade it for a player(s)?
Us having a QB already doesn't devalue its trade value, that's nonsense. What players we have already is entirely irrelevant to what trades will be available. We will have suitors LINING up to trade up for the 1st pick.

And the Packers get eliminated by the Lions, in Lambeau. Tough year for both GB and NE.

Does it get any better than the #1 pick and the Packers being eliminated?

That can only be passed by a Super Bowl.
Get to work Poles.
