I'm hoping Matas can turn into AK47 2.0.

I think a lesser Luol Deng stat wise. Not saying their games are similar - but from a stats perspective, maybe 13/6.

Why do you say that?

I think overall this class was really poor, I don't think that's debatable.

I also think that this years class is overrated.

As far as Buz he has the mentality and athleticism and length to impact the game in so many ways. The light will go on soon and he will flash great play. But then he will hit the rookie wall.

NExt year he will be close to an all star

I think he'll be really good. Lithuanians are really good at basketball.

He has most of the tools you want in a really good starting wing. I am really starting to lose faith the Bulls have any idea how maximize that. Bulls are more concerned with wining 35 games then getting him 20 MPG.

There was insane hype here in Lithuania a few years ago when Matas was choosing whether to represent USA or Lithuania in FIBA play. At that time he was projected as the #1 pick in the draft and as a prospect he looked like the next Kevin Durant. It's funny in retrospect how things change. It looks like Matas will end up being more of a defensive player instead. We still look forward to him representing Lithuania regardless of how his NBA career goes though.

Thanks to Illinois for producing a new core member of the Lithuanian national team 8-) The Buzelis/Jakucionis/Sabonis trio will be fun to watch.

He's US born, and IIRC, he never played in Lithuanian pro league. So basing his expected performance on silly stuff, how many US born white guys start at PF in the NBA today?

Domantas Sabonis started out at PF. There's must be something in the water for these US-born, Lithuanian-bred men.

I know his actual shooting efficiency is abysmal, but just seeing flashes like this below makes me quite hopeful he can become a good offensive player down the road. This is pure improvisation and creativity. Guys who are bad offensively can't even come up with stuff like this in their mind. Or maybe it's just wishful thinking...

This is why these projects should be in college for 2-3 years and actually develop their game and get reps against easier competition. With NIL money this should be a no brainer. This guy went straight to the G League. Glad Team Ignite has been disbanded.Just raise the age limit to 20 and make these kids stay in school for at least 2 years. The NFL has a 3 year rule so the NBA should be able to do 2 years. G League is best for undrafted or 20 plus year old recent draft picks that need reps or are not NBA ready. It’s not for 18-19 year old raw prospects. There are very few LeBron’s out there any even for those they can create a legacy for a college like Jordan did for North Carolina or Grant Hill did for Duke. They can still make millions on NIL and take business classes so they can actually know what to do with their new wealth.

Heh, he indeed asked Matas and got the response he predicted. Everyone likes this kid. Sure wish he'd get more time on court.
