Both are/were:
- High draft picks
- Questionable fits for their current teams
- Shown flashes of being roughly all-star players
- Are available due to their value being at an all time low.
- Questions around their ability to shoot.

I kind of like the idea of having Matas and Kuminga on the wings, would give us two very athletic wings with size who both play defense.

The issue with Kuminga he doesn't have the professional experience and upbringing Josh has had. I believe that you need that type of background. Deni once he left the Wizards did the similar thing.

I would look a guys who were older players as rookies when they are drafted. Julian Strawther does fit this.

Those guys could be worth something or guys going on their potential 3rd contract.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

The funny thing is the "next Josh Giddey " is another guy also on OKC. Jalen Williams, fresh off posting a 20 ppg 5 rpg 5 apg season. Are we just gonna keep robbing this lame shortsighted OKC GM of all their future stars? Give that GM yet another win now option and reap the rewards later lol... would they go for Vuce & Coby?

TBH Kuminga is the opposite of Giddey. Everyone thought Giddey was complete trash, and he's been putting up all-star #s to the shock of everyone.
I would say most people believe Kuminga will put up huge #s once he gets off GS. And he'll get paid accordingly.

The next "Giddey" would be someone whose reputation is a trash player. Most of the people listed here are considered good players. The next Giddey would have to look pretty bad right now, eg Kuzma. It would be someone if you heard we traded for, everyone would flame the Bulls as the worst FO in the history of the game (which is basically what happened w/ Josh).

I'd be looking into Benedict Mathurin, seems to be glued to the bench for the most part in Indiana, I'd definitely take a flyer on him, he's similar to Giddey in that he's got 1 year left on his rookie deal and is then due for an extension.

Another 'lower end' player is Jett Howard.

He seems pretty good when he plays, but I don’t think he’s ever going to crack a playoff rotation for as long as the Nuggets see themselves as contenders (which is as long as Jokic is there). He would make sense as a target if we wanted to trade someone like Coby, who I think would get playoff minutes on the Nuggets where they are looking for anyone on the bench who can provide a spark. I haven’t done any trade machine figuring on how that would work, just throwing it out there as an example.

Same day I post this Strawther starts showing out in a playoff game.

Keegan Murray. He’s like the Sacramento version of Patrick Williams in that he’s happy just to take 10 shots behind high usage guys.

I think he has a lot more ability than Pat though. Keegan can be a legit 20 PPG scorer in the league and I like him at the SF spot between Giddey & Matas.

I agree. They have too many guys who need shots there. I'd easily do #12 plus expirings if they'd take that.

kuminga stinks. he's got the giddey thing of "he's only good if he's a focal point of your offense, and it doesn't really seem like your team can be that good if you make him a focal point of your offense," except it's even worse because he's a volume scorer who can't shoot so you can't even do the giddey thing of "well it's ok that his shot is janky because the strengths of his game lie elsewhere"

i would be fine taking a flier on him for cheap on the off chance he figures things out on his own, but he's almost certainly going to demand a lot more money than what i have in mind

i guess if the bulls did, like, a kuminga s+t for vucevic, i would just kinda throw my hands up and say 'whatever.' but my expectations would be very low.

What about giving it another go with bobby portis and/or daniel gafford? We should have never let them go in the first place.

I'd be fine, but AK seems like the last guy to make such a move.

I'm fully on board with the strategy of trading veteran role players to OKC for future all stars.

let's be frank, the "next Josh Giddey" is the former Miles Bridges: a player who is completely toxic to 29 out of 30 NBA teams for reasons unrelated to basketball. whether or not Pete Rose-esque sexual improprieties are true or if anyone even cares anymore regardless, that's about how you get DeShaun Watson to come to your team, or otherwise attract a "good" player to a sideshow: nobody else wants him.

the "next josh giddey" is the wrong way of thinking about it. be thinking about how to find "the next jimmy butler", a star player who is available to every team in the draft.
