He won’t be traded.

You don't know that. If a team like the Heat is selling and dumps Adebayo, Coby could very well be a main piece in a two or three-way trade. This team has a number of capable guards. If a trade is there for a good defensive center, Coby is gone.

I know it. No team is giving us anything we would take for a player that can walk next Summer. The time to trade him was last trade deadline.

True.

Think it’s more likely it will be Ayo gone. He was almost traded over the summer.

Neither will traded unless we take back garbage.

Teams never trade for a guy with bird rights with the intention to resign the player? That's interesting. Thanks for making me aware.

It takes a special kind of person to speak with such certainty on things like this so consistently.

Rentals also happen. I am repeating myself here, but Houston seems stuck between Durant at 37 needing to win plus their youngs looking like they are maturing, and FVV being unexpectedly out this year. If all they are missing is a guard to contend, Coby could be a possibility for them imo. And if AK decides in a timely fashion that Coby's next contract is a 30m+ luxury we can't afford, getting something for him from a contender with that specific need makes sense to me. It depends on how the first half of the season goes, but It seems like Amen and Reed could use some help from a vet. They could even keep Coby around and ship out FVV. Now that I think about it, even at 31, he would look OK in a Bulls uniform, our timeline (we're not winning this year) and salary situation could match, and Coby could easily get more on his contract than Van Vleet makes over the next two years (though he has a player option). And maybe we could get a little something else to make up for his unavailability this year, since the urgency is on their side? Improbable, I guess, but kind of interesting. FVV is tiny, too. Meh.

Any updates on Coby yet? At this point, I might be happy with Coby's ceiling as a guy who plays 65 games this season.

We can trade him for garbage. Is that better?
