that is fact. it's history. it all came down to deng and the bulls wouldn't move him.

No, actually, you don't. Kobe wanted to come here only if Deng was still here. Meanwhile the Lakers wanted Deng. That is why it didn't happen.

Deng was untouchable in a trade for Kobe, who may end his career as a top 5 player of all time.

I’m glad this keeps being brought up. Because upon reading it I’m instantly made aware that my life will be better if I never read another post by that person again.

It’s like a scarlet letter. You sir, are marked.

No idea why you think that notion is funny. Teams that make deep playoff runs tend to have well-stocked frontcourts and win more battles inside than they lose.

No one is saying Asik is Bill Russell, but he makes it extremely difficult for the other team to score near the basket (when the refs don't call fouls on him for kicks). He also defends the PnR well. He's a smart player, particularly on defense, and improving. That's friggin important in the playoffs, and it's not something you give up without a lot of apprehension.

We will possibly have to face an equally deep, and very experienced, Boston frontcourt - unless we luck out and they stay perpetually injured until the summer, we'll need to exploit Miami's tissue-soft frontcourt as a serious matchup advantage (along with the Unicorn demolishing their PG of course), and/or we'll need to contain Dwight Howard.

I'd like to have Omer and Taj on my side for those battles, and much as I'd like to add Lee, I really don't want to give either of them up to get him. An hour before the deadline, if nothing has happened yet, I might be willing to do it because we do need a SG. Now, I'm still holding out that they'll take the picks.

I don't want to give Asik away. Not for any of those players. But Taj is very, very, very expendable and easy to replace. I don't see what is the big deal with this guy. Our second unit isn't going to score 5 points on anyone serious in the playoffs and don't think we are going to keep those guys from scoring. Just imagine the second round matchup vs Miami. They are going to have Wade or James(even Bosh) on the court every second of the game.

You think our second unit are going to outscore them? Keep the game in balance? Without a single player who can create his own shot?

Look, we can easily keep that froont court depth. We would still have: Noah, Boozer, Asik, KT and Deng to rotate. And the option is to add another big body, this can be done without a problem but the Bulls FO is in love with Taj Gibson it seems.

Get a starting SG. And then get another big man to make the rotation bigger. We lose nothing, but gain much.

The "we wouldn't trade Deng for Kobe" thing has grown very tired and usually betrays the fact that the one who utters it doesn't have the facts straight.

And yes, i want you to tell me what a young center does that makes him so valuable to our future that say, erden couldnt do, or fesenko or kufous .. i mean how many centers can put up 2.7 and 3..5 in almost 12 MPG.. line must be long pimp.. hell erden does about the same thing

None of those guys defend the rim the way Omer does. Not.one.of.them. It's not close, in my view. And that's why we have Omer in the first place. To defend the freakin rim and rebound. Which is why he has value that you refuse to acknowledge.
Can I borrow a feeling?

Good grief.

1) The Lakers weren't going to trade Bryant.

2) Bryant wanted Deng to stay on the Bulls.

Otherwise, spot on.

This. The Bulls FO has never lost a trade or FA without being outbid. People overrated guys like Hinrich, Gordon, and Deng more than the FO did. But it was a moot point anyway, because Kobe was going NOWHERE.

IllReppa - Do you really think Kosta Koufos is just as good as Omer Asik? Have you ever seen Koufos play? He's terrible. I wonder why he is still in the league. Asik is a player that teams actually covet. Koufos...not so much.

Why would you trade Asik + picks for a guy who's only worth a 2nd rounder (C.Lee)

Why would you trade Taj + Asik + Salary filler + Multiple picks for a guy who's not playing like the bobcats pick (Mayo)

Don't get me wrong...I want Mayo, check my sig - but lets not throw away common sense and bargaining tactics and end up getting screwed for a pick. Is a Mercedes nice? yes. Do I want one. yes. Am I going to sell my house for it? No.

I'm trying to sell my house for a condo and a BMW instead. If Someone gives me a good price on that Merc. I'll move somethings around and make it happen cuz it's a deal but i'm not going to go full (Please Use More Appropriate Word). you never go full (Please Use More Appropriate Word).

I'm more of a lurker here, but the way I see it, I would rather have Anthony Parker, the Char pick, Asik, and Gibson than Lee or Mayo. The dropoff between Parker and Mayo isn't as significant as the dropoff between Gibson and a PF we get as a throw in, or Scal. Defense wins championships, especially when we have to go through a team like Boston.

Bottom line - I don't think any of the SG's we have been talking about are worth destroying what is the real strength of this team (outside of Unicorns) the frontcourt depth.

Paxson has as much said that they aren't going to trade those guys unless its for a real significant player. Courtney Lee and Mayo do not fit that description.

Now Pardon me, the frier buzzer just went off and I have a filet o' fish to make. No pickles/extra tartar.
