Very real possibility Lavine stays and rehabs his value before being sent out.

I’ll all in foret DDR walk and keep Lavine.

This is probably the most realistic outcome.

Now do the Bulls move AC while his value is at it Highest (healthy, games available and contract length) ?

IMO, if we keep Zach, then I'd definitely trade 1 of Coby, Caruso or Ayo because the roster needs better balance.

I think the idea is that Zach goes at the deadline, one way or another. Hopefully with his trade value rehabilitated.

Either way. Houston would have to match Zachs salary which means that'd likely have to include Dillon Brooks plus 2 or so other contracts to make it work financially and then they're throwing in the #3 pick aswell?

It would be a lateral move at best for Houston.

Rockets Get:
Lavine
Drummond

Bulls Get:
Dillon Brooks
Jeff Green
Steven Adams
#3

Houston improves, imo (as long as Zach is healthy). We get contracts that are easier to sell off and a crap lottery ticket at #3.

Green and Drummond are both FAs and therefore cannot be traded before or during the draft.

Plus I'm not sure Houston improves. Brooks is more important than LaVine would be to them.

Houston has a team option on Jeff Green which they can exercise and keep as a non-guaranteed contract until July or right after the draft. I'm guessing they did this strategically to give them a trade chip. That said, I agree with you. That trade doesn't make the Rockets better and for their team I'd rather have those 4 players than LaVine. They already have Jalen Green. LaVine just doesn't make sense or move the needle. Golden State is a team to watch. LaVine would fit beautifully there, especially if Klay walks. We could easily build a trade centered around Chris Paul, GPII, and a 2025 or 2026 1st.

So they do, I went off fanspo trade machine that has Jeff Green listed as an UFA (but also has him with a TO :dontknow: ).

I agree that GS might be the best place to unload Zach, so long as they don't decline CP3s contract, which becomes un-guaranteed just after the draft.

I think Klay walks (probably to Orlando) and the Warriors will look to replace his production, they won't give Curry a young backcourt team-mate IMO.

Vucevic would be a good fit in GS also IMO.

Vuc is a good fit no where. He’s just bad.

Zach is good next to Dejounte in ATL and Michell in CLE if Garland goes. Both arc teams. ORL as well.

Zach would be a terrible fit next to Mitchell, neither are PGs and both not too great on D.

I agree about being a good fit in Atlanta with Murray.

Vuc is a great fit in <name any team not the Chicago Bulls>, what are you talking about..?

Anywhere but Chicago.

Vuc sucks. Bad players don’t fit for any team unless you are tanking. He’s a vet who is falling off a cliff and he way overpaid. How’s that a good fit?

I don't think you were getting my point. I don't want Vuc on the Bulls anymore, I don't think he's a good player (I do think he'd for well in GS though).

Hence he'd be a good fit on any other team because he wouldn't be on the Bulls.

has someone already posted KC saying that the bulls have "significantly" lowered their asking price for lavine? sorry if this is old news, but just in case:

Do the Bulls see an off-season LaVine trade as something that HAS to happen? Or will they be content with him on the roster if a trade market for him doesn't materialize? Also, if he's on the team at the start of the season, do you think there's any potential for distraction/unrest? It seems like everyone was professional last year and I'm wondering if that can last if he's truly unhappy. --- Steve P.

Content may be the wrong word, and I do get the sense both sides are motivated to make something work this offseason. I don’t think the Bulls will take an awful deal if little materializes, but I do get the sense they’re open to more possibilities than before. More to the point: I’ve reported before what their asking price was---All-Star level talent, first-round picks or both---and my sense is that it has dropped significantly.

As I’ve said from the beginning regarding this situation: This is like a relationship that has run its course. And you’re right: Both sides have remained very professional to this point, and I expect that to continue. But the desire from both sides to make a change has grown.

all i ask is that they don't salary dump one of the best players on this team at the absolute nadir of his value, and yet i cannot have any confidence that i'll get what i'm asking for

It's not really new news... it's just pieces a lot of what was figured out/known into one neat reply.

Bulls weren't looking to salary dump him in the past as they were still dreaming that they could compete... however, given there failures there... and then AK's promises of changes, our hands are somewhat tied. A Lavine salary dump may actually be fortuitous as it allows AK to keep two players he likes in Demar and Patrick, and stay under the LT.

However as per usual, we always seem to be interested in that type of move when the upcoming draft is nothing to write home about... one can hope we land future picks instead.

The KC story is the drop in asking price. If they're looking for a rotation player and a contract rather than an all star level player, or a future first instead of one this year and one later. There's no point to waiting until the deadline to get the lower return. It's in the shadows but KC doesn't just make stuff up to make a post.

Whatever could come back for Zach, kind of can mesh with what they could get for Caruso, do they take back players for DeRozan in a S&T and is there a way to move Vucevic? Running it back is not an option, AKME can't afford to make one significant change and run 90% back. They're in a position to get what they can for the most veteran players, hope that Coby and Ayo make similar gains that they did this year, see a healthy Patrick and see if he can bring it at the SF. Maybe get another pick in what people think is a weak draft and tread water this season and hope a bigger step in there in 25-26.

KC has said this a few times that the relationship between Zach and the bulls is done. This is the main reason why I think he will never wear a bulls uniform again. We ll see what happens. AK has a lot of work to do this summer and changes need to be made along with Zach.

The Bulls asking price still may be unrealistic. The market for Zach a year ago when our asking price was multiple picks and a rotation player or a different star didn't materialize. The market value for Zach now may not materialize around a rotation player and money savings either.

What matters more than our asking price is what someone else's offer price is and whether it will be higher now or later and whether it will be tenable to wait until later if you are convinced later will be better.

That's a somewhat complicated situation. The general feeling I get is both sides want a divorce, but that the situation is tenable enough to wait until the deadline if it is required. It's hard to say what is going on internally with the team and those relationship as a fan though, so it's possible my view on this may not be accurate of course.

AKME can't afford to make bad moves. That's how I would put it. Strategically, I would look to improve the asset base, and they need to specifically improve it in years 3+ from now and not be looking short term, but I don't think their strategy would align with my strategy, so my hopes and dreams probably aren't too relevant.

The problem with holding onto Zach to give him a chance to improve his value is the luxury tax. During the season, the trade will need to be mostly financially balanced. Teams won't have cap space. If the Bulls don't make major changes and re-sign DeRozan and Williams, I think they're stuck paying the tax.

Agreed. Trading Zach now give the team cap relief to resign their favourites (DDR and Pat) whilst also getting an additional player or two (and probably a pick).

Jerry isn't going to pay the tax for a play-in team.
