based on his SL play Doug should play with the second unit...Whoever plays with Rose and jimmy needs to be a good spot up 3 pt shooter like MDJ or Snell potentially....Plus a lot of the shots in the paint Doug is making will get blocked/contested more in the NBA, especially against starting caliber rim protectors...with Mirotic being more of a scorer at the 4 and less of a spot up shooter it would be better if Doug was more of a spot up shooter...Doug's SL play is very similar to Mirotic's style of play...With Rose and Jimmy wanting and needing the ball this could prove problematic...

Another reason why i want the starters to be.
Rose
Bulter
Snell
Niko
Noah or Gasol

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.
NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

It seems the general complaint is that even though he's been effective, its been with spins and cuts and offensive rebounds, etc., rather than catch and shoot threes. And the fan with this concern most likely believes that standing in a corner and shooting 3s is the only way he'll be able to contribute offensively in the NBA, being unable to get these other shots off against NBA defenses.
But here is where I disagree. It should be encouraging that he's getting this array of shots off in the summer league. Because in the summer league he's still playing against good individual athletes and far more importantly, they are focusing on him. On the Bulls, Doug will be a complimentary piece. The defenses will be focused more on Rose, Butler, Gasol and Mirotic. On the Bulls, Doug is going to have waaaaaaay more time and space to get off his shots, regardless of which type he's shooting.
If he's aggressive moving without the ball and finding the open spots on the floor, and his teammates look for him, McDermott will make NBA defenses pay, and when those defenses begin to compensate, it will open up things even better for the Bulls other scorers.
He'll be a real gem for our offense if he's used correctly.
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

From what little I know of Hoiball, it seems that movement off the ball is emphasized. Of course there's cherry picking involved with the choice of the clips, I realize that, but nonetheless the Iowa State shots on the clips look like what Doug has been doing -- cuts, slips, getting the ball while in motion toward the hole. That would seem to play into Doug's style.

People worry too much about Doug missing threes but that should be the least of his worries, it should even be a worry at all. Heck there was a time that I hadn't played ball in two years and it only took me 5 minutes to get my shot back and I am not a professional. His shot won't leave him. Everyone knows he's a good shooter and Its been obvious he's been showcasing the other things he can do this SL

Iowa State was famous for all but eliminating the 2pt shot from their offense. So if Doug is practicing running into rim defenders I don't know what he's practicing that for. We need him to sink 3's at a super efficient clip, not put up a million soft 2pters at the rim for centers to swat into the 3rd row.

Hell, it seems like everybody has. Iowa State took 37% of its FG attempts from 3s last year. Their opponents were at 34%.

Maybe not for Doug, but in general an attempt at the rim is still better than a 3 since you get less variance and give up less defensive rebounds which lead to transition opportunities.

If you ever watch any Iowa State games, focus on Georges Niang. That will be Doug's role, IMO.

I think Niko is going to benefit more than Doug as the stretch four. They won't need to play small because Niko is a big who plays small and is more skilled than Doug. Niko is comfortable bringing the ball up and can make plays something Doug hasn't shown he can do
